No, not yet.

I know there are tools for normal map generation. I know that BAR has them, and you have them and Zero-K have them.

Dont know how to add them though. I presume its another gadget squeezed somewhere in the allready towering process that is UnitDraw..

Actually dont know, if i want to do that step and get even slower when it comes to development.

Everytime i added something my actually productivity dropped.. you dont have that problem, because you use a algorithmic method to create your units, so work spend on one piece == logn(work) spend on all units.. i do not have this ..

I would allready be happy if i could turn shadows back on on my old desktop gfx card..

And yes, this was heavily inspired by the Zero-Point-Modules of Stargate.

love your unit concepts

seems they would be difficult to animate well with Bos/Cob/Lua...mechanical/robot units are somewhat tractable problems.....but organic anims?

how do you plan to animate your dudes? just wondering

keep up the great work 8)

By harnessing the powers of boredom..

Its surprising how far you can get without the deformation animation.

Still dont know how to make those BAR DGUN Distortions ..

Currently searching for a more interesting gameplay alternative:

I found the flat building hierarchy, without tears and only money preventing instant lvl2 factorys quite boring.

Soo.. brainstorming what to do. Your are free to enter your own thought-contestants into that tourney.

A) Killvolution

To be allowed a Lvlv2 Factory, you got to kill some of your opponents troops.

B) Timeintensive Upgrading

Upgrading takes Time..

C) A Quest
To upgrade your factory you have to bring 12 boarskins?

1) If you want to get Azad level of obscure complexity and DF level of WTF factor: produce various techs from captured enemy units. Like Infested Terrans, but on massive scale with significant combinatorial explosion options.

Using corpses of dead enemies also qualifies.

2) If you just want to delay the process: make multiple "tier 1" producers able to merge into "tier 2" producers.

If you want to get crazy again, you can do like the cyborg squid faction in Achron and get combinatorial, for example doing stuff like T1 air + T1 land = T2 hover

LimitTheory Board not allowing big pictures

Every new tech is used in excess before its found out that in moderation its better.
Thus, if you take the time to use a new technology subtile you shall benefit.
Heard an intersting talk about eye-tracking today.
And of course its the future, its soo big, its gonna blow away all other forms of controll - just like kinect did ;)
but used subtile it may be useful ..

Player looking at ammo while situation peacefull- trigger reload animation..

Player searching a UI-Button - looking to Unit, trying this, looking to Unity, trying that.. tooltip popups for all the buttons..

Subtile usage of shiny new toys.. or else you end up with the plastic toy look of the first normal-mapped game-entities..

well i ll be gone for a week, a excursion to Italy (Padua). Everybody behave, do not overdose on the drama. You all know how you regret it the morning after.

It took me quite a while but here it is..

knorke was right.. one should only write small maintainable lua-scripts and not constantly open up new fronts with monster-sized-subprojects..

Here is a example..

the pipes on the industry complex are now folded by some random.. and it looks nice.. was not much code, and not much work.. this is how the world is supposed to be.
Also.. im cancelling the journeyman commender.. yes, thats not fair - but what in life is. I can barely get the other one to walk and work. Symetric balancing is luxery pure

Hoping the Varyfoo works out the same way.. infinite monsters all from random and some fleischsalat

Not all Legs are showing..

Some of the creatures are still sinking into the ground..

Only one Headmodell, which is not correctly placed yet..

Decorations and tails are still missing

Still i see my point proofen.. if you attach LEGO and ran.Doom you gain infinite stuff..

Made this today... its a really neat thing if you dont want to record thousands of soundfiles but want something like spoken language as background for subtitles.

Basically you have the following table

and a corresponding Folder with 24 recordings of very angry soundsnippets.

then you stuff whatever your char says through this function:

I have to speak up, i have to speak it out. Like many people before- i have been molested by apple prod(ing) ucts...

They look all cute when you buy them, but very soon, they hatch and use those tentacles for mad(evil) stuff. Like ripping mountains out of the ground and crashing them on people..
