Re: Complete Annihilation News
Perhaps we could say a intelligent species decided to demolish a galaxy, and though that seending 2 diferent robots capable of giving birth to agressive and exploratory robot races to oposite points of the galaxy would be fun :)

Re: Complete Annihilation News
In the 57th season of Robot Wars, entrants had started entering robots that could learn from their losses, self-repair and improve themselves. Quickly the robots realised that 2 robots is better than 1. Millions of years later, long after the war had accidentally resulted in the destruction of the human race, only 2 "teams" remain. Since the refbot was destroyed by an off-target nuke long ago, there's nobody to call an end to the round, thus the teams are destined to fight forever.
Re: Complete Annihilation News
Games section of new website needs pictures and updates. Doesn't sell CA well right now compared to other mods / games, and is very out of date.
Re: Complete Annihilation News
The origin of the robots is left purposefully ambivalent. The campaign if we ever have one will drop a lot of hints as to what happened to humanity and never resolve it.
Zsinj: I wont be cramming all this stuff in the game, but i still find it interesting to discuss.

LOL. Do they have a robot Craig Charles to commentate from a secret bunker?El Capitano wrote:In the 57th season of Robot Wars, entrants had started entering robots that could learn from their losses, self-repair and improve themselves. Blimey. You guys do stuff quick. Nice one. Still needs pictures and more detail but reads a lot better already.
Re: Complete Annihilation News
Hey guys, for the last couple of games where I've played Core Kbots I've come across a couple of issues I'd like to bring up so as to find out if people agree with me.
Firstly, I fail to see the real use of the Thud. Not because an assault KBot isn't needed, but because the Outlaw seems to be a much more cost effective unit that both out Thuds the Thud, but also has other useful roles (such as antiswarm protection)
Problem seems to be that the Thud doesn't really do anything that makes it stand out. It's not fast like the AK, doesn't have great range or rapid fire so it struggles with skirimishers and raiders. Riot units tend to be tough enough to shrug off the thuds damage and statics get licks in and blow up thuds while they plod into range, and the Outlaw with it's beefier body and big plasma cannon seems much more effective against statics.
Secondly, and more minorly, the Storm always misses a moving target. While it's a nice damage dealer and can provide good combat support for other units assaulting statics, it doesn't seem to do what it says on the tin (ie it seems to be sucky as a skirmisher, but useful (if somewhat short ranged as artie)
Agree/disagree?

Re: Complete Annihilation News
I always found the flat-trajectory rocko and the arc-trajectory storm thing to be a little strange, i suppose it could allow for them to synnergise with cloggers pretty well.
Not really in a position to comment though; I play as Arm mostly, and when random gives me core 90% of the time i go t1 veh

Re: Complete Annihilation News
I suppose thuds are made to work along with cloggers, I mean, they got the perfect shot type for this :)
Re: Complete Annihilation News
don't uh thuds have massive hp? that is useful.
Re: Complete Annihilation News
Storms and cloggers have excellent synergy.
Re: Complete Annihilation News
Thuds do seem a bit of a questionmark now, their massive HP isnt really all that useful and their dps is so crappy for cost...
Re: Complete Annihilation News
Thuds can be used for some things, they're ok in combination with storms and as general shock absorbers. Agree they don't stand out particularly, but I do like to use them from time to time.
Re: Complete Annihilation News
Thud is OK with com repair. But yeah, it isn't a very useful unit.
Re: Complete Annihilation News
But don't you find in the same situation an Outlaw would be better than a Thud in nearly every circumstance? I mean it has a few less hp, but if a raider rush comes in they're ultimately perfectly built to deal with that. In addition they do lots of instahit damage with the big gun, meaning a couple can knock a llt stone with a single round of volleys.
I also don't find lots of hp for slow units to be much of a significant bonus. They need the hp to take the punishment as they waddle into range.

Re: Complete Annihilation News
Thud also has more range and can fire over each other. It may more useful when massed for assaults. I'll do some tests to test this theory.
Re: Complete Annihilation News
Thud is less than half the price of the outlaw, and has 1500 HP. The Outlaw has 1100 HP.
Thats a -lot- of HP for not a lot of cash. And thats what the thud does- its a tank. Its weapon isnt much, but its enough to kill small lighter units the storm might have trouble with and clean up after a storm barrage.
They're also faster, capable of keeping up with storms- the outlaw will slow you down 25% if you bring him along.
Now, the point can be made that with the outlaw for firepower and the clogger for tanking (clogger also has huge hp for its cost), you dont need the thud. But if you cant be bothered with herding around cloggers that dont even fight back and you dont want slow, not very heavily armoured (for the cost) outlaws that can just as easily hit your own units with their AoE, Thud is a decent alternative.
One of the most popular core unit mixes is thud/storm.

Ok... one day, some guys decided to create a computer program where they could play the old game TA in 3D...Elkvis wrote:Oh, come on now...
