Someone on the Ubuntu forums got this error when trying to run:
ERROR: Update drivers
Needed extension GL_ARB_texture_compression not found
He is running xgl, any ideas?

He might be using an old graphics card that misses the "GL_ARB_texture_compression" extension?
I don't know that much about xgl but I don't think it would interfere with Spring.

If you don't know much, you can't exactly say it won't interfere :P

I have heard it interfere with other games...

A note to FBO: I run update manager and the basedata and aaspring mod say they need to be updated, but it can't actually find the packages when i go to update, seems there still problems your end...

I don't see the point in having the version number updated, yet not having the packages :P

You should always do

Code: Select all

apt-get update
before installing new packages. But this time it wasn't your fault. I discovered another permission problem on the ftp server. I'll try to fix it as fast as possible.

Actually, aptitude is better than apt-get :)

Code: Select all

sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude upgrade
I'd also like to take this chance to thank you for the awesome packing job you have done. If cross-platform sync ever gets fixed, then your packages have the possibilty to introduce a lot of beneficial people to the community.

It is - but I've gotten used to apt-get and btw. aptitude 1 key stroke longer :-) .

You're welcome :-) .

BTW: Update frequency is 3/day now. All the packages should be fine at 14:30 .

dapper deb packages still aren't working. I'm getting:

Unable to fetch file, server said '/pub/linux/people/fbo/debspring/dapper/../all/spring-scripts/2.1-1/spring-scripts_2.1-1_all.deb: No such file or directory. '

Best of luck

The ftp-server has some serious problems rsyncing modified permissions. I'm currently working with the server admin to find and fix this.

The repository should be accessible now - I'll add some additional permission sanity-checks on the spring-repository - I hope, this will prevent further perm-trouble.
