Im afraid I am not familiarized with the expression "wanna be script" or with the second possibility "script kiddie"

I have faint suspicious of that they are offensive tough and, in that case, Im afraid I will have to increase the negativeness of my opinions about you.

Now, getting back into topic, anyone else thinks that the pulse weapons suck?

Anyways, stop retarding the thread up, we're talking about spore. pplz add me as buddy, I've worked pretty damn hard to ensure all my creations are of reasonably good quality.

spore is five loosely tied minigames. the gameplay isn't very deep in any stage except for the space stage. unfortunately, space stage is not fun unless you like doing bitch work.

the most refined part of the game is the creature design and the animations of them. its really quite amazing to see such seamless animation on a completely custom-built mesh. it's a shame, really, that the only time this awesome system is utilized is in the first and second stages. afterwards the game turns in to a shitty, shitty RTS for two stages, and then in to the aforementioned boring space sim, the only carryover of which is the way your creature looks.

yea i know theres some dumb stats or whatever you get depending on the path you choose (herbivore vs carnivore and shit) but those hardly influence anything.

they should have built the entire game around creature stage

@manored: dammit, ascii2binary isn't much good. Wanted to say something in base ten. Why does it not simply have input and output. the same arguments :/ Anyway, beyond my attention span now.

I think one major design flaw in Spore is that in the stage we would like freedom of creation the most, that is, the creature stage, you cant just put any part you want because you need to be as strong/charming as possible and the parts have different characteristics, and in the civilization and space stages, where it would be fun to have the equipment you put in your vehicles used, you just have percentages changed for vehicles and no difference at all for starships :(

In the tribes stage everthing happens very fast, there is not really time to get boring. The civilization stage is a simple but fast-paced, wits challenging RTS. The Space stage is mostly a sandbox, and I like sandboxes :)

I'd like to point out for those complaining about the weak RTS elements of spore. Spore isn't an RTS.

It's just that its sad when games are massively dumbed down by money grubbing suits in hope of attracting more "casual gamers" and idiots.

stop looking at spore as a game, because it isn't one. it's a toy, lego which you can test drive in a virtual environment.

oh and it's got a nasty DRM scheme ;p

it wasn't dumbed down, it was always meant to be this simple. It cannot be helped that some of you wanted it to be sins of a solar empire, mixed with the pokemon and earth 2150.

It's simply common practice and makes perfect business sense to dumb down games so of course they do so. It just sucks from the artistic point of view. Also things like removing blood, better for business, but crap for awesomeness.

that looks like an incomplete version of what we have except rather than have a water stage they go from cell to creature. Maybe the water stage was decided for a later expansion. It would make sense to a business person.

It's quite possible that was just a video mockup or at least heavily tailored gameplay just to make the video. The diablo3 video for example has tons of stuff they made specifically just for that thing according to some blizzard employee's forum post I read ages ago. But it still shows their initial vision of the game which got pretty butchered.

They mention things like how you design the creature impacts gameplay. Specifics like how the legs are modeled would affect speed.
