Never fear though, I've only talked about the things I've done to buff commanders at the beginning of the game, not at the end.
Erm, the com's fine or possibly even too strong in the early game, buffing him further would be nuts.

I disagree, since generally ~10 well-microed flash tanks can kill ur comm in ~10 secs

Bull.

Almost every modding project in spring is a 1 man band. THe exception being CA (whose production ground to a halt after the release of 76b1).

It takes twice as long to accomplish anything if you have to ok it through x amount of people.

I have lua gadgetry from jK, and some texture work from gizmo and rattle and lurker. PURE has models from GMN. EE has lua by aegis. And you seem to be ignoring the work under your own nose, as lurker has done cob/lua work for Evo.

Now, each of these bands does have a leader, and sometimes the extra people are just hitting the cowbell or providing backup vocals, but they are there. In the shadows.

Peet, you misunderstood what he was saying.

And by extention what I am saying. Most of us try to help each other out whenever we can. But just because I tryo to help out 1944, or simbaes, or EE or something like that, does not mean that I am actually part of the "mod Development".

This Lua the game changes a lot, because it actually is coding, and it actually is a development process all of it's own. For example, Lurker is definately a part of evolution because of the massive lua stuff he has undertaken on my behalf (and believe me, it is massive), however, ultimate decisions are mine to make. I decide what content goes in evolution. I decide how the game plays etc etc etc.

What el_matriafe was asking for is that basically caydr stick AA's stuff on an svn and give me (just using myself as an example here, nothing more) and whoever else, and says ok, you guys can make commits etc etc and have total power... Be honest, you would never let anyone else have total control over simbase, for the same reason that I would never give anyone total control over evolution, nor fang over EE etc etc. That, is what el_matriafe is asking for. And doing things in that manner tends to gumm up the works as well as give the creator (or maintainer) the sense that he has no power and is at the mercy of everyone else that is "helping" him.

Like I said, you simply misunderstood what he and I said, no big deal. But you know as well as I do, that in many scenarios involving spring, multiple "heads of game" would never work.

Edit:
another 2 cents here...

Ignoring lurker?

I have been proclaiming to the high heavens that he has helped me repeatedly and is engaged in some massive stuff on my/evolution's behalf. I'm not ignoring it at all, and it's almost offensive that you would think that. :(

For the same reason that Smoth and Fang are the main reasons for evolution's existence in the first place. Fang taught me nearly everything I know about bos/cob, smoth and fang both helped me understand modelling, as well as a lot of other things. I don't mention it every other sentence, but when appropriate I do mention it. I use lua from JK, Quantum and many other people, and I really appreciate it.

I have never had a "release" post because the current chapter of evolution isn't as perfect as I want it to be yet, and there is no real readme to speak of. However when "Official" release time comes, everyone who has had a hand is going to be mentioned.

P.S.: Caydr, I'm sorry for mucking up your thread. sry :/

I requested the aid of KDR because with my new job comes a lot of work. Work which will reduce my time to work on gundam. Prior to that I was working on gundam SOLO. So yeah it is very much my baby. The only part outside of the recent kdr help was the cursors erom did for the community. That being said I am extremely happy to have found someone to help me with gundam.

TD is an effort of several people, not just gnomre, see the TD thread if you want to know more of the people who have contributed to the current private build.

Having people help you is extremely handy and teamwork will always produce more then working alone.

The problem is that you used one man band to refer to having one person in charge, which is not at all what is means. I think all of us can agree it was a misunderstanding and not be upset, since there really was nothing bad intentionally said here.

Crap, you're right. I was thinking of "One man Band" in a totally different way. I didn't exactly stop to visualize it.

SO I guess the cause of the misunderstanding was my fault. Sorry guys. My mistake.

All I was saying is that last time he released a version of AA it just sat there unmaintained forever. What Caydr needs are some helping hands who can help implement his designs, or handle the modeling / texture work or something so that he can get more done. He's already saying that he is going to be so busy with his other mod he may not be able to do too much work with AA. I'm not saying stick it on SVN and let everyone have willy nilly commit access to pull it in a bunch of different directions, but having folks to help maintain it isn't a bad thing. Even the mods that are largely driven by one person are accepting at least some help with LUA / COB scripting and other tasks.

I doubt he will manage to work on two mods enough to get AA into a good enough shape to compete with other OTA based mods, especially ba and ca.

Considering you mean that a one man band is a mod with a leader, you are mistaken. CA has a lead developer and a balance boss. You only need to check with one person before committing. Also, we have written a new updater, committed 40 revisions, submitted a patch to the Spring installer and held a tournament since .76b1 was released. I'd hardly call it "ground to a halt".

Quant, read the rest of the posts. There as a mistake concerning the meaning of "1 Man Band".

It did Grind to a halt for a little while. And from my own testing, much of the lua is still broken, however, I am glad that everything is going smoothly again.

The I suppose the difference is the fact aht I did think about it for a bit, the only problem is that I was thinking the phrase "1 Man band" was intended to mean something that it doesn't... Enter wire crossage.

Will do, tomorrow. The other day I tried out like 8 things (pulled off of svn) and all but one was broken. I was rather frustrated, cause some of that stuff was extremely cool.

Umm right off the top of my head:

Unit is on fire
