What are you talking about? Morrowind was a great game, but Oblivion is SO MUCH BETTER! Its fun for example!

wtf? I remember that before you got Oblivion, you used to say Morrowind was excellent and had all sorts of praise for it. Almost the same thing for Master Of Orion and Galactic Civilizations II. Why the bald faced scene-jumping fanboyism?

@ LOrDo: Morrowind kicks ass. If you like open-ended RPGs, then Morrowind is the last word in that genre. The graphics may not be cutting edge anymore, but damnit, it's still good, and there are several mods that I would highly recommend that improve the graphics and gameplay too.

I said that Morrowind was an awsome game. An awsxome game. Just Oblivion is better.

And Master of Orion II is an incredable, groundbreaking game. Just Gal Civ II is better.

Wow Zoombie, deleting a post of your because you can't own up to the fact that you called Morrowind boring and plotless? That's a bit low.

Fine. I changed my mind after replaying Morrowind with a new perspective, gained through a year or two of experiences and reevaluated my opinion of it.

Happy?

PS: I meant the edit in a jocular sense. I thought that was rather...obvious..ish.

Obvoiusly IMO games like oblivion will never live up to FF7,8 or 9 but they are good games.

Ugg, diablo was easily one of the best comp RPG ever made. That game single handedly proves that pacing and skillbuilt gameplay is powerful enough to mask repetition and shallow story development. Diablo is a good GAME, dispite the fact that it may lack as a digital movie script in action.

iirc, Diablo was never meant to be a full-out RPG - it was meant to be Nethack with sexy graphics. And in that, it excelled.

I think somepeople have misinterpreted my statement. I said horrible RPG.

Is an RPG the end all for all games? No. Diablo was a GREAT clickfest, an awsome GAME. Just not so great in the RPG department, despite being billed as one initealy.

Clickfest is kindof a dumb term. If you aren't clicking in a game that means the game is playing itself for you. Diablo really didn't have any excessive clicking that it required from you asside from the basic character control, it didn't make anything feel unatural or excessive. The game just required you to pay alot of attention to what was happening and use some skill in doing the right thing at the right time. IMO a "clickfest" would be pretty much any FF game. You can beat most of them with the X button on turbo the whole game. Playing FF you're basicly just there to make the story advance by moving your chacacter to the right place and pressing x as frequently as possible. In diablo you had to constantly be moving, casting spells/using abilites at the right time and place, avoiding enemy shots, using the map to your advantage. Diablo is a skillbased game, and it's better then most games out there because of it. You acctually played the game in diablo, not just continuously put input in so the game story could advance.

I played through all the FF games and love them, I don't want to give someone the impression that they aren't fun games, people watch movies all the time and do nothing and enjoy them, that's a little more along the lines of what the FF games are, they aren't skill based games, the user is there to advance the story, not to challenge thier gaming ability.

Hmm, now I've played (and enjoyed) a few FF's in my time but I always wondered how much or wether they would be improved by making the fighting parts of the gameplay more 'fun'.
Obviously I qualify 'fun' in this case fun to mean skills based, either brains or reflexes. Would it add to the game or take away from the story?

Right, click fest is not exactly the best terminology...

How about Isometric Action Oriented SKILL GAME! Or a IAOSG

Diablo and Diablo II were good games. but like SwiftSpears said, they are more action-oriented and skill-based games than RPGs typically are. You're comparing apples to oranges here. Oh, and part of the good design of Diablo is that it just gets harder and harder. I don't think I'll ever get either my Sorceress or my Paladin to get past Diablo on Nightmare lvl >.<

I don't do Hardcore mode, too depressing. Do you have a level 55-ish character (not ladder)? Perhaps we can get together on open B.net and you can help me kill Diablo.
