Sticky are those threads that are sticked at the begining of forums. Even if no one posts there, they never follow down, always stay up in the top-most threads.
Threads that are not stickied are ordered by the most recent posts. The thead with the most recent post is at the top, just below all of the sticked threads. Sticky threads are stuck in position at the top until unstikied or removed by an admin.
