.:New Map:. Glacier Plateau [20x40] And [10x20] (Updated)

Post by Forboding Angel »

Ok, to describe this map is a bit hard to explain. First of all, it's farking HUGE.

(Updated to include "Tidewater Glacier, which is a 10x20 version of this map)

I designed it for 5 vs 5's, 8 patches per person giving 2.0 metal per mex early game. On a map this big I really didn't want to gimp the metal content.

5 geo's, 3 on the right side, 2 on the left.

Balance:

The right side has a Plateau, and less area overall to build, plus more ramps for amphibs to climb up. Also, the high Plateau is the highest point on the map.

The left side has 4 hills that are as high as the Plateaus, and more overall area to build. However, the ramps for the left side are MUCH larger and therefore easier to assualt using hovers or amphibs.

The only bad thing that I am seeing, is that the mipmap lines show up due to the fact thtat I had to convert the terrain to a jpeg on max quality to even get the compiler to run it.

BUT THE BEST PART OF ALL IS...

ONLY A 6 MEG DOWNLOAD!!!

I've been working on this all week and I'm tired now as it's 5 am, so without further adu...

Download Here (it's also in the map list):

My paltry screens don't even come close to showing off it's beauty...

Pusing f1 makes the heightmap not appear, The water looks like snow, and pushinf f4 does not bring up the metal map.

The drone is right, i just tried the map and the water was borked, the height map did not appear when called for and it has strange flickerings.

Well, try and download the version on FU, and test it.

Drone´s version is borked, mine too, both from the same FU source.

Perhaps just re-uplaod your version.

I always redownload my maps from FU after I upload them.

It's a spring bug BTW. It has nothing to do with the map itself. Spring has a lot of trouble with really big maps.

Check out altored earth for an example of what I mean, or check out the map "Epic".

I've known about this problem for quite some time. I believe that it actually has to do with your video card.

Mine is a geforce 5500fx, 256 ddr.

oh yes!

I just loaded up altored earth, and the water is white there too.

Also, this doesnt happen on battle holms for example or this map where you have 4 big islands and one commander statue in the middle of an ocean, the water displays just fine there.

My laptop uses an ATI mobility radeon 9600/700.

IIRC, Caydr's map Altored Earth has a warning in the description: "DO NOT PLAY WITH SHADOWS ENABLED"
Is that your problem, AF and DF?
