map editor

Post by caldera »

I'm about to make a small gui map editor, cause command-line usage is not that user-friendly...
you can see my progress here: Image

the main focus is not on the image-editing. photoshop and co are much better than i can ever do. but i like to have one suite where you can manage all the files and have them auto-compiled auto-compressed and auto-copied to the right folder. placing metal spots already works, trees and geovents are planned...

before uploading a beta-version i would like to ask if its's ok to include mothers mapconv into this editor (so mother when you read this, plz gimme feedback) cause its an essential part of this

it is open source and mother did not make mapconv, only modified it for greater useability. SO yes, use it :D

It says "The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application" when I try to launch maped.exe.

Iiiik... Can you, at least, make it for .net 1.1?

Last time i installed .net 2.0, it massacred my windows so much that i ended up having to reinstall windows. I ain't, for sure, installing that crap any time soon.

it works very nice! I am hoping you could also insert the typemap under map configuration. I think alot of mappers are using this, among them myself also. When this is inserted, i will definatly use your maptool, and give credits in a txt file for it!

great work!!

caldera,

I like it .... 8) Any chance you can add some slide controls
to set some options for the smd file ...

Also, a way to add player locations...

Yeah, but you've done a great job. I think most mappers were waiting for this to come. A 'real' map editor would make mapping easy, but i think a lot of mappers like to map in their own way, but compiling is a thing everyone needs to do (with this map-format that is)

Hopefully you can release it with the typemap thing first. A smd controller would be nice (esspecially with sliders for the colors (and the matching colors, instead of 0.34 0.7 0.88;

Keep it up!! great stuff!

i have a new version, now including the typemap. cause i have no idea of that typemap-stuff, it would be great if someone could test if it really works.
There is also an smd-tab, but its just gui, there is no functionality behind it already.
