Spring Celebrations

Ok so scenario time:

Spring has just been released, what do we do to mark the event and attract new players?

I know of someone in the game Kingdom of loathing whois getting married soon and he's collected 40,000 pieces of wedding cake at the white knights grove so he can mark the event by giving every player in the game wedding cake, we need to do something extraordinary other than play the new game, and we'll need an awareness campaign to spread the news across the RTS communities.

Well, if we had a LOGO we could start knocking up banners and such and get them up on all the TA sites... Hint Hint We Need A LOGO.
And maybe some one should barrage a PC games site saying here check this and give us some coverage!

but first I'm going to have to impose a temporary logo on you all while we decide what the logo that we're gonna market is gonna be.

Just keep in mind that nearly every logo has been TA related and this is not TA or TASpring but an rts engine named spring, there will eb other non robotic uses for it and possibly non-destructvie uses.

I think that firstly we should learn from the firefox projects markettign scheme, we need an organisation place to organise the marketing such as firefoxes spreadfirefox.com We need a barrage of banners in different colours sizes and styles, we also need to start porting game sother than TA while havign no intention fo finishing the ports ourselves so that those gaming communities take off where we left off and finish the prot themselves drawing in volunteers and new people in the process.

I appoint myself head of the Media wing (marketing) of this project, unless an SY intervenes and fires me, volunteers for designers, designers will post a piece fo artwork representing their skills and design sense, it will show simplicity yet depth and will eb adaptable to any colour or situation. The subject will be of their own choice. After I am satisfied that there are enough I will start a poll and those who get the most votes will collaborate on a final logo banner adverts t-shirt designs for spring.

Don't you think thats a bit big headed though... It's not like your the only one that wants a nice LOGO and stuff...

Does the project has any perspectives of using banners? I supose that at least, there should be the possibility to provide banners for whoever wants to give the project free publicity.

Is there any standards for the size (pixels and KBs) of banners?

Now that i think of it, i (or whoever would do them) would definitely need game images from the game to make animations in the Flash Banner...

We use the same banenr and image sizes that firefox used and anymore we see fit.

I correct my above decision, I will appoint certain people to a design team, if you feel you need to be on it post and you'll go on trial

Would anyone object to advertising it on major forums where we could get new players? GenMay, Hard[OCP], and Something Awful all come to mind.

Only thing is: I don't know about the legal technicalities since Spring references some OTA .cab files. Do you have to have an OTA copy?

You can talk abotu spring there's nothing stopping you doing that btu I suggest we discuss how we're going to market spring before we do amss advertising.

We'd want 2 tiers of media:

TA orientated
and RTS orientated, both targetted at their respective groups. I will be PM'ing those I think suitable and asking them if they're interested, otherwise PM me if you feel we need you and point me to some artwork

Backgrounds? no no logos should not have backgrounds since backgrounds change depending on where the logo is

I think what hes offering is the ability to do 3d work for us... which isnt a bad thing, cause with a bit of co-operation we could prob make a Spring trailer.... all 3d and beautifull. and if we make it well cool we can just dump it on the net and slowly it will get moved around the forums....
