The good ol days
Blue_Frost here; have been away from spring for an easy 10-12years.
Missing the old WarC, LCC, PRO, SmuG, XHC, teh, PinK clan battle days on balanced annihilation.
Wanted to ask and see how many of the old-timers are still around or logging in from time to time?
Thinking of coming back for some of these 1v1 tourneys nice to see a few new peeps holding it down and as always seeing rANDY; crazy how many people dont know about rANDY back in the early days; and quite honestly i feel MOST of the true BA 1v1 players arent around anymore.
I remember literally having hours of training on maps with flopflop, lion_heart, mestizo, triton and many others.... i find it funny watching these last 3 crown cups and hearing people talk about the past days of BA/spring and quite honestly i feel alot of new players have no idea the skill that used to resonate in the balanced annihilation community... shoot i even miss the greenfield days or for me being one of the best on speedmetal....
And lastly everyone who played with me shall remember how SLOW OF A COMPUTER i played on... probably the slowest in spring
Hoping to get a new PC made soon and be back for some 1v1 tournaments and show some of these new guys how us old guys really used to micro rockos, mortys, how fleas can decimate, shoot idk if its still a thing but even FPS turrets to shoot a tad farther then there range to kill other turrets etc

Hi! I'm too new to remember you
We really do have a dearth of 1v1 skill here in BA/BAR. Have you checked out BAR at all? It's mostly a sea of new players, but some are beginning to progress through the ranks.
And, hey, if there's any chance you can show Cartouche who's boss, go build that computer and get practicing now
Welcome back :D

Re: The good ol days
Im definitely going to come back to both BA and BAR. I was pretty close with beherith back then too helped him test maps from time to time along with forbidingangel (prolly spelled wrong)
I played back in 2005-2009ish.
Ive watched most of the videos uploaded to youtube of the 1v1 and 2v2 tourneys.
Ive seen you play as well its nice to see the new changes added to BAR as well as classic BA, i dont remember the pathing being so funky like watching replays.
Back then there were actually like 8 plus mods
1944, evo, ba, ca, aa, xta, ma, zero k and few others.
As far as Cartouche; watching him hes a great player, love the aggressive risk-reward style he plays. Id honestly love to 1v1 him and/or whoever... we literally had 1v1 lobbies all day long when i was on.
Makes me ask about ‘Brazilian battlefields’ and if thats played at all anymore haha that was a 1v1 map played alot as well back when i played.
CCR always and still looks like it
Id just say more sea 1v1 needs to be played
And theres alot of tricks for coms and what not so to say id have to show.
rANDY honestly i feel doesnt try anymore watching the replays. Youd never catch randy back when i played with an idle lab, an idle unit or him forgetting about his com or reading unit descriptions (BAR replay) hahaha
Him and [WarC]daywalker used to have intense 1v1s on CCR though, daywalker was a beast only got the chance a fews times to play him.
Im hoping to get a computer built soon id love to have for the crown cup 4 even; even to spectate or however idk how its all done now. Back then we had locked tourney channels/clan channels

Re: The good ol days
Haha im surprised my computer never blew up on some DSD 8v8s and speedmetal games that i had.
Awesome to hear daywalkers still around, i see why zero-k took off, crazy to think back then nobody played zero-k haha.
Glad to see BAR i like some of the tweaks, kind of think some of the units look too similar but then again im so used to BA unit looks.
Crazy to see no T2 even in the 2v2 matches (cape violet) you could have someone on land go VEH gift a amphibious con to your teammate (teammate meanwhile build out the 6 mexs on land, energy, metal storage, build out the 2 close water mexs eveb if want and straight t2 lab by 3/4min mark for sure.
Well hopefully some people are up for 1v1-3v3 and start to become more open to it. I could easily grind 3-4hrs straight in 1v1s no problem so hopefully people will be up for it!

Re: The good ol days
A good few people lurk around i think just with different names. Games on spring tend to get under the skin and stay there for a lot of us.
I'm now HarveyN and play primarily on ZK, I do find myself nostalgic for greenfields and speed metal, and having one of the faster nuke rushes in BADSD8V8

I still lurk here from time to time. I think this is an awesome little community. Ahh the good old times!

oh hey, you're the guy with the terrible internet connection! I have no idea how I still know that.
Re: The good ol days
Hey Blue_Frost! It's great to hear from you after all these years. It's understandable that you miss the old days of WarC, LCC, PRO, SmuG, XHC, teh, PinK clan battles on balanced annihilation. Those were some epic times indeed.
As for the old-timers, it's hard to say how many are still around. Some may have moved on to other things, while others might still log in from time to time. It would be interesting to see who's still active in the community.
It's exciting that you're thinking of coming back for some 1v1 tournaments. The scene has definitely evolved, but there are still some skilled players out there. And yes, rANDY is a legend, and it's surprising how many new players may not know about him and the impact he had in the early days.
Training sessions with flopflop, lion_heart, mestizo, triton, and others must have been intense. Those were the days of honing your skills and mastering the intricacies of the game. It's funny how watching the recent crown cups brings back memories and highlights the skill level of the old BA community.
And hey, your slow computer didn't stop you from making your mark in the game. It just shows that skill and strategy can triumph over hardware limitations. But getting a new PC sounds like a plan. Show these new guys how the old guard used to dominate with micro-managing rockos, mortys, and even using FPS turrets to outsmart opponents.
Good luck with your PC build, and we look forward to seeing you back in action, reminding everyone of the true skill and legacy of the balanced annihilation days. The community has evolved, but the spirit of competition and camaraderie remains. Welcome back, Blue_Frost!

Re: The good ol days
Just remembered my account. I check in every now and then. I played heavily around 2006, stopped in 2007. Recently I've been playing some BAR against AI for some casual fun.
Re: The good ol days
hi jackalope, do you still have the goatly maxims of spring?
Re: The good ol days
Something about it sticks with you. More than other games.
