Hello!
This my first time post and use spring engine.
Thanks to those who always solving these issues.
Here is my problem(sorry, my English is bad but I'll try my best to statement):
At first I use "SpringLobby" to open "spring1944"(including the map).
It seems hang on a very very long time(about 1 hour), but the program is still working(few lines of white words display on black screen).
Then I direct start "spring.exe". And the same situation.
I also add the command "LoadingMT = 0" to the end of my "springsettings.cfg" but still crash(hang right there).
I had make sure my graphic driver is the latest(ATI), and my notebook is bought at about 2007.
I'll attach my "infolog.txt" to help solving the problem.
Thanks for everyone!!

Re: Spring 91.0 start up crash
it is your graphic card driver.
if you tried the latest already, try one that is from about the time when your card was new.
also try running spring in safe-mode (spring --safemode).

Hello, Hoijui
I'd try the spring safemode too, but still hang right there.
And I also tried to uninstall my ATI VGA driver.
After I do that, I found the ATI(AMD) official site doesn't offer the older driver, neither the Acer official site. So I reinstall back the original one.
This is the AMD driver download site
(
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/w ... sta32.aspx
This website is about to do this : All the user have to install a assist program called "Catalyst" to help install the driver, but "Catalyst" only support offer the latest driver!!
Also, here is a little sentence says: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pa ... ssues.aspx
"However, if the game was running fine before the driver update and undesirable effects and issues arise from the updates, you may consider going back to the previous driver version."
(plese use Ctrl + F to find)
)
This is the Acer driver download site
(
http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/d ... modelId=29
And my notebook need this>>
Aspire 4920
VGA Vendor : ATI
Driver Version (vista) : 8.401
SIze : 74.2 MB
Date : 12/08/2008
And mine version is 8.401 too! So there is only the latest driver to choose.
)
So how can I get the order version driver from ATI website?
Thank you very much!!!

WOW I want that GPU NOW!! :phoijui wrote:[f=0000000] Video RAM: total 833534MB, available 920606MB
Re: Spring 91.0 start up crash
Even when AMD dropped driver support for your GPU, they dropped it just a few months ago. So there must be a newer driver than from 2008.tree2 wrote:Driver Version (vista) : 8.401

PS: is the AMD website hacked or why does it redirect me to some suspicious website?

I don't know why no more new driver released since such a long time...
But I'm sure when I use "Catalyst" to update the diver, it just pop up a message told me my driver is the newest version 8.401!
I don't know what is the hack mean, I surf in it very fine.
??
Re: Spring 91.0 start up crash
If the problem keeps can't solve,
I'll going to change my vista to linux.
If this way can solve the problem?

Re: Spring 91.0 start up crash
Problem is that ATi dropped support for your GPU some months ago, means they won't release any driver updates for it. For windows this isn't as troublesome as you are just sticked to your current windows version. But Linux updates continuous, means you need regularly new drivers (minimum all 6-12months).
So sticking on their last driver is no solution on Linux, instead your are forced to use the open-source drivers there that rarely drop support for old GPUs. But the open-source drivers are in a worse state (feature and bugwise, not from developing point of view) than the current ati ones and have their own issues. There are some ppl in the community who claim they got Spring working with them, but it's everything else than simple.
