i'd be happy to do guideline though its GMN's mod so he can do as he please wish i could help with more than just 40k info but i have no skills in ethier modelling or script writing :(

Hi all !

This week-end, I tried a challenge : create the Imperator Titan in Spring.

You know, this huge war machine, wich can eat 20 krogs at breakfast...

After about 10 hours of modeling, scripting, thinking, etc..., i make that :

Of course, it is not finished :
-The 'castle' on the top will be finished,
-The defensives turrets are missing,
-Maybe texturing will need some work...

Advices ?

How tall is the titan? HOW TALL???!?!?!?!

Also dose it run into clipping prob's like everyone says big units do? Or is that simply an escuse made up by lazy modders who dont want to build a massive unit?

Very nice crampman the mod has its first uber unit of death. For texturing i would go with a hell of a lot less metals colors (maybe only the guns and the area near the head) everything else should be more menacing/dark/gothic/40kish.

also don't go crazy with the number of weapons it has. we can make up for that in the stats of the unit and its weapons. same with the castle don't make it overly complicated so that when people spam them (and they will *shakes fist*) the game doesn't die and take our cpus along with it.

Actually, I just made this unit for fun. So I will do as I like with weapons. But if you want it for your mod project, there is no problem.

At Crampman sry to be bossy didn't think taht it was SAG unit so nevermind. as to this being my mod i wich but sadly it is not i have no skills (in modding).

i guess i should ask, how many weapons r u goin with (would love to see this thing engage like 20 dif units but thats probably asking too much in the scripting dept.) i think im gonna take a little time to update the wiki but i need to hear from GMN and Benito if possible. Also i need to know what zwzsg is doin with his conversion of WHTA. this way i can combine it all into one massive wiki writing spree :)

and (FINALLY) i might try to get TAU to give us some forum space so we can really orgainze this mod a bit (though im not sure who to talk to for that , ideas?), or i could ask Maniac Reaper if we can hijack his space a little and use that, hmmm... Iive got tons of ideas but i don't what to let them loose upon this thread.

J5, why on earth would you not want to show off the true superunits in their full glory? If people are able to spam those things, they should play a better map.

while i would love to have a titan with 20 different weapons im gonna assume -that being the keyword- that makin a script fot that would be daunting but if Crampman wants to by all means he can go ahead and besides if it works then hurrah. of course this is all baring that the mod really gets off the ground. which is my biggest concern.. so if we keep the unit simple to begin with it will be easier to get the mod into a running version

in the end, my opinion really doesn't matter since people can do what they want with thier models and the rest can be dealt with once there is an alpha to test.

EDIT: have talket to Storm and Nexus about forum space and it seems to be a go :-) have wed the 11 off so i should have most of the updating done soon

I've got some scripting problems, very strange indeed : when I add a weapon script, then it crashes, and the whole script is not executed.

Is there a lenght limit with scripts ?

For the number of weapons, I can't say, for I'm doubting...

There is :
-The main guns. Very powerfull weapons, it can destroy most units in one shot. (Mini-nulear blast) But it is very slow and it needs lots of energy. 2 weapons
-The castle weapons. I've not seend the rules about them, but Ithink there is 4 big cannons (In the big towers) and a very big one, in the middle. I won't make this exactly, it would be too complex. I think that 2 super-long range guns, like berthas, would be goot. Or maybe just one...1 or 2 weapons

-The defensives turrets on the legs. I hesitate between plasma guns or laser weapons. The problem with plasma guns is that they would make lots of craters, and it may make the Timan'moves hard. 2 weapons
-I think that including anti-air guns would be nice. (In TA, I can't imagine an Imperator shoot by a brawlers swarm...) I don't know where I should place such weapons : most of planes are flying too down : the Titan is so tall...2 or 4 weapons

The main guns are finished, and I've made laser turrets on the legs.

Nice work on the Imperator, certainly quite a mammoth job to do.

Here's a lowdown on the weapon systems:

1 Plasma Annihilator
1 Hellstorm Cannon
1 Main Battery
1 Defense Laser
4 Gun Towers
8 Secondary Weapons

That fills the 16 weapon slots. You can forget about the point defense guns, they were pretty weedy and don't really appear on the model.

As for scripting problems, don't know of any limits, but if its crashing you'll need to debug it. If you post the script we might be able to help.

well taht is a lot of weapons but think in terms of a real game of Epic there are literaly thousands of guns being used (esp with an IG army :twisted: )

thx for teh response GMN im gonna transfer teh tech tree onto the new forums once they are up. HOPEFULLY that will be soon but Nexus seems to not want to answer my PM on TAU and he is the person i need to talk to about a site account.

like benito suggested don't add the outer turrets (the one on each corner) of the castle. how ever the one on the waist and backside of the unit would be nice. also can anyone say (benito if u know) whether the defense laser on the top is AA??
