Ok again spent 1 minute on it but to make this look better you can:

- Add a blue overlay to everything except the red. (I used pure blue overlay 6%)
- Render a wire frame to a texture, change in the "create texture" options to render faces instead of lines. This will only do the border edges and not the lines between a face. Invert it (so that the wires are white) and set that to lighten (and as top layer), use low opacity.
- Just paint a bit of extra pre shading :)

You are improving, but I recommend you to stop doing those random bevels in the metal. Instead try to get detail with dirt and scratches, and better shading.

You really want hard edges to pop out, that is a lot more realistic.

Now this is really easy and takes nearly no time, but you have to set up your uv map correctly for it to work well (cut everything that has a sharp angle, 60 degrees or higher).

Just get the result in photoshop, invert it (control+i), put it on lighten and play with opacity.

Yeah, my UV maps arent consistent enough for this, too much pre-optimization on them.

but anyhow, next one is here:

Yeh was about to say the same, not that it matters, as they'd be perfectly fine ingame and preview pics don't need to be pretty.

Older versions (0.99.60) had an openGL render option that supports rendering with AA. Try this one!
(file>render>opengl) and click the black box to change settings if needed, for example change the AA settings to highest and disable self shadows.

Just model in the new wings and render in the old wings :)

Oh man, they look so COOL!

Something came to mind though.
1)Is the red teamcolour?
2)Will these models be used in a setting where Core battles Arm?
If the answers are 'no' then don't mind the rest.

I ask because I associate a teal glowing colour in the texture with Arm, and red glowing with Core.

I'm basicly asking what they look like with a different team colour.(for instance teal)

Radar is my favourite of these, btw; Great look.

Spider is my favourite. You really managed to give these units some personality.

Im not actually sure which of those is spy. That may be the biggest problem of these: Spy and jammer gets easily mixed.

Anyway, if the spy is the one with slippers, It's logical: Spy needs to step smoothly without a sound ;)

Thanks guys!
Spy has slippers indeed.

Red is teamcolor, blue glow is just the trim I gave them.
Since textures are in fireworks, blue trim can be easily changed at will.

What are those units with the glowy balls? Jammers?

Otherwise yeah they look great, my only question is how identifiable they are from above, as they're pretty busy looking and have such a similar visual style.
