one hosts popular water maps only
i would love that, if it would work. water maps are too unpopular, i doubt that this server would fill

in my opinion there could be a need for much more ba servers..

especially a duck-only-host 8v8 - this is really funny time by time, fast games, much laughter.
and yes, there is no "water only" host. i could need some watertraining.
then there was good old greenfields - haven't played that for ages, although it's on many autohosts.
and speedmetall isn't played much on ba nowadays - that's a pity, too.

back in old original TA days we played a lot of "no air" games - all air/antiair dissabled - haven't seen this on spring as far as i can remember. also "no air/no nuke" for preventing nukerushs, too..

either way, it depends on players setting up their autohosts, anyone complaining about this or that host should set up their own :D

Sigh... Since when did you need an autohost to play a game?

Host yor own and you can have whatever map, rules, players, and whatever you like, and without any voting faggotry even.

You never hosted a few hundred games manually balancing the teams every 2mins, getting flamed why game isnt starting, getting flamed to choose another map, getting flamed about unbalanced teams etc. etc., didnt you?
That was the pre-authost era.

Maybe but that's irrelevant now isnt it? Whenever I host, now, such thing never happens. Or if someone cries about whatever I wont feel bad banning them.

1 big fault with autohosts btw, is that it's so easy to !autolock/!teamsize into a bigger game, but not really doable into a smaller size. So all it takes is 1 guy who isn't instantly banned and more people can join.

Im confused; how else would we enjoy BA8V8DSD, BA8V8CCR, BA8V8SSB, BA8V8FD, BA8V8NW, BA8V8AD, BA8V8Duck, BA8V8Tropical?

Edit: Sorry, the list should read; BA8V8DSD, BA8V8CCR, BA8V8DSD, BA8V8SSB, BA8V8DSD, BA8V8FD, BA8V8DSD, BA8V8NW, BA8V8DSD, BA8V8AD, BA8V8DSD, BA8V8Duck, BA8V8DSD, BA8V8Tropical, BA8V8DSD.
And that's optimistic.

Less crying about 8v8 dsd autohosts and more arranging one that is for say max 10 players and has no dsd in its queue....
After such an autohost is around you can start populating it and you'll have good games...

I have to admit I did not host manually for quite some time now, but yeah, if the situation has changed its ok also. But it was really annoying back then and autohosts made life easier.

Absolutely agree.

Why no DSD? DSD is a great map though but I dont want to play it 247. Btw I setup [x]TheHost some time ago, 1500+ maps, map rotation of ~15 (IMO) nice maps. 12 players max.
It just needs players cause it gets rarely played.

It's not that hard to host your own game in Spring Lobby. I don't know if that's the case in other lobbies. But I host manually because I find the !commands awkward. And if you use a relay host you don't even have to worry about your connection.

On waiting for a game to start, it does seem to require a bit of dumb luck to get a game to fill up. I can normally get at least 1v1 or 2v2 going with a bit of patience and that's even considering i'm playing my rapid-download only game and map that's not hosted on springfiles.

That being said surely it can't be too hard to get your own game up and running with more popular maps/mods. Here's a thought, the posters that have expressed interest in playing not dsd should contact the other posters and organize some games. It's not that hard to send a few messages, establish time zones, and start playing.

without metalmakers its 5 mexes and yay!
best option ford dsd would be to limit it to 10 players as the map description says. then its playable cos there is enough metal

This causes more porc than MMs, because the average BA8V8DSD player is of the mindset "ill take my 5 mexes and you take your 5, and we can each tech up in a civilised manner, like gentlemen :)"

I mean, yeah, its friendly, but it makes for shit gameplay :P

Hmm... Perhaps try the other BA variants... ?
Eternal Annihilation and Balanced Annihilation Reloaded

Didn't they have some changes affecting the metal production, to reduce porcing?
