My conclusion shortened: Take GPG's Demigod and mix it with their SupCom and you get the abomination which SupCom 2 is. The resource part is the only thing for me where they were successful in making the game less complex while maintaining a nice gameplay - all the other efforts in that direction greatly failed...Tribulex wrote:omfg should i read that? Re: SupCom2 Demo
Dont bothr with the demo. I have the full thing and I've played the demo.
The demo is crap. Bad choice of missions coupled with limited number of unit types, it just doesn't work unless you have the fullset.
The real thing is much better and once you play it a few times it can be quite enjoyable, but its not a supreme commander with extras tacked on and a graphics update.
The benefit of the removal of T1 and T2, is that there are more advanced units, its just that your not left with rubbish T1 units you cant use, and there are areas of gray inbetween.
e.g. a cybran assault bot at the start of the game will be massacred by one with rate of fire upgrades and chrome armour. The second also looks a lot shinier and prettier, and has all the regenerative health upgrades needed to reach chrome armour too

Re: SupCom2 Demo
The major pain is the unit control not the none existence of a gazzliion tech lvls.
Re: SupCom2 Demo
well they do play a part, they play a part in making it impossible to make stuff.
Re: SupCom2 Demo
gameplay looks shite, but as a mapper i have to appreciate SC2's capabilities. spring maps are so limited.
Re: SupCom2 Demo
I watched a video of a supcom 2 game by a supposedly decent player.
Skip to ~20 min to skip him talking to himself
Well, it shows that its not research lab spam, and resources do actually play a part, but the lack of micro makes it lame... Tank blob vs tank blob is boring.
The units dont look to nice actually, even when its zoomed in. The map which is really cool though.

Re: SupCom2 Demo
Nice map..would be fun for a 1v1 remake in Spring.
Re: SupCom2 Demo
Honestly I think BA might be better than this. Only cool part of sc2 is com + upgrades.prankster wrote:This is what BA should be
Re: SupCom2 Demo
eurgh he has graphics turned down
Re: SupCom2 Demo
Shits retarded i purchased a boxed copy because i have a slow inet connection and didnt want to download the full game off steam.
install and its only 3 gigs big. Log onto steam it asks to download some 2gb patch WTF!!! the game is only a week old why could they not shift all that on to the cd what the hell is the point of the retail box.
I already hate the game before i even played it. As you cant play a game on steam unless its up to date..
Tomorrow ill give feedback on the game itself.

Re: SupCom2 Demo
Graphics-wise I think supcom2 is actually improved upon the first game, plus interesting maps, but that's about it.
They removed almost everything that made SupCom1 a good game: the large maps, the strategic meta-control, the changed resource system, removed constructor building assist, piss-weak experimentals, weak campaign story... the D-Gun/Overcharge attack.
Forged Alliance actually gave me some hope that SupCom2 would be even better, but its gone ass backwards.
GPG has gone on a downward spiral ever since Space Siege, its games have lost their soul.

Where can you go after such a game like TA,only downward.

Maybe your right I cant know.Spawn_Retard wrote:wow this guy plays like shit in that video, and continues to call himself pro.
But thats funny coming from someone who consistently plays bad in Spring after years, with a [proplayer] tag too
Re: SupCom2 Demo
They're trying to sell RTS games on the console. Obviously Dot Wars and overarching control is not going to be a big selling feature on a platform that doesn't even have a freaking pointing device.
Maybe now that PS3 is getting the Move, we can start seeing some real RTS games again - the Wii is too low-res for RTS, the big boys are committed to thumbsticks, and the PC is a shrinking market. If the Move catches on, we'll have a pointing device on one of the hardcore gamer consoles. Maybe then RTS titles will see a resurgence.

True that.

And Pxtl, PC gaming isn't dying. That's a myth.
