I erased FPS manager out of lua widgets.

Since I turned it off in springtest, it still didn't work in lobby spring.exe

the game continues to crash when loading.

it would be nice to fix this before building a new PC

To reset all Spring settings back to default, go into the spring configuration program and find the place it says "reset all settings" or something similar. HOWEVER since this isn't the problem you're having, what you need to do is

Spring\LuaUI\Config\BA.lua
And probably all other files in the config directory to be sure, since I'm not sure you actually said you were playing BA.

The settings utility I directed you to earlier configures Spring's basic settings, the lua files store mod-specific settings. So if you can play BA but not CA, or vice versa, you need to delete the lua config files. They will regenerate themselves at default values the next time you start your game.

I find it worrying that you say you deleted the FPS manager widget, since this is something built into mods but not activated by default. You can't simply delete it unless you're someone who is very prone to getting their head stuck in buckets. I mean, how do you "reinstall" spring.exe and how did you think that replacing one file would solve your problems? Seriously.

Are you positive that the problem you're having is even related to the FPS manager? A recent Spring update* breaks all mods that aren't updated to reflect the new engine changes and would likely, as you say, simply cause the game to crash if you tried to play them.

* not sure if this has been released yet, it's either just-released or it's in the next version.

OK, you know what, you sound like someone who has messed with things that shouldn't be messed with. Here's what you need to do. Delete the Spring directory altogether, reinstall the latest version Spring, then reinstall the latest version of your mods. Things will work again after this. If they don't, buy a console. Or a mac, or something. A stick and a hoop.

In the future, asking for help or reporting bugs can go in the help & bugs forum.

No, the current release does not include the changes that requires all mods to be updated.

And no, Spring would not crash, it would just not list the mod, then not spawn start units.
