Can we have a forum for clans?

Post by triton »

Id like to have subforum for clans, to organize us easily without making a website, and without waiting for people to join spring to pm them.

Many more reasons, it could help clans to grow up, maybe that more people would join forum etc..

ps: i hope you didnt duscuss this before ^^

To even have actual clans we must first make a proper official support for them and have a system where smurfs are not allowed so that everyone is in one clan.
If peopel are in 10 different clans can there be any competitive spirit amongst clans or any desire to play clab matches?
ATM clantags are just used for aesthetics.

Of course you can have a forum for clans! I'll just make it a subforum of Game Lobby.

But, would we be able to erase troll reply into our subforum?

Didn't someone say at some point he was working on some user profile system.
I even remember a very long thread about it.
Well maybe this clan forum would spur motivation to somehow make advances in this area.

Yeh, whatever happened to that idea?

The clan system atm is just silly. You have to use characters from yoru actual username to have the clan tag which for one is silly. Secondly, to be in a clan, you just need to edit your username so basically anybody can join any clan they want unless they are reported.
It's not properly supported at all tbh...

atm tags are used for autohost balancing mostly. So there it makes perfect sense to have several "clans" to pick depending on who youre playing with.

it makes perfect sense to have several "clans" to pick depending on who youre playing with.
but this is the whole root of the problem in the first place!

why? because of the ridiculous stacks that occur when people are "picking" clans for play... i've seen it plenty of times, someone joins a game, sees that theres a clan on the other team; leaves and renames so that they can join the stack.

there isnt even really a reason to display a clan tag per se; when clan matches DO occur, the games are generally human hosted (or at least on a clan autohost) so the teams are already clearly defined and a smurf isnt going to sneak into the system.

TONS of people do this every time i play; maybe its about the time of day, but i've already seen people listed n the clans forum using smurf accounts and forming other alliances with eachother

and really, none of this would be bad, but there just arent enough people playing to withstand overwhelming odds like that. i like playing against people who are good... but when im already taking a hit before the battle starts because all of the noobs by default are on my team, why even bother playing?

Is there a way to selectively remove a subforum from my view?

it's not an explicit feature in phpbb (which is very disappointing) but I threw together the url for searching in all forums except that one, and search_id=active_topics, and it seems to work.
Here it is.

that means you can't search new forums without adding to the url, and you need to keep the url around <_<

all this would have never been nessescary, if you paid your protection money (the boards have even buttons for PM), me i hate trollz, but people bring them upon themselfes in full command of there mental faculties. And when the fire starts it is too late, so why not admit now that the intertubes need some organisation CAPSLOCKABLE of everything, to protect you?

Beats being unable to read the forum at all. Care to provide a better solution?

It would be nice if clans listed what members played what and what times they were online.
