@ hrmph. the top is red the middle yellow and the bottom green. (if u live in america skip the middle). im presuming tahts how u do it instead of guesswork :-)

@hrmph: RG colorblindness is precisely the reason WHY they use the uniform red-yellow-green system.
@Min3Mat: yellow lights are not ignored in the U.S. In the States, the yellow light is a warning to gun it so that you can make it through the intersection.

Actually, seeing as 1/3rd of all males are colourblind, they make the green in traffic lights contain far more blue.

I can still differentiate red and green, but at the edge of the spectrums I have difficulty. Light green and yellow, or dark green and dark red, for example.

The point stands that the ratio is very high. Expecially considering that our population is almost entirely male...

That refers to a total population. Females have virtually no chance of being RG colorblind, and the colorblindnesses they are prone to are much less common. 1/5 is the estimatated percentage of American males who suffer from colorblindness.

We were told 1/7 in a HCI module last year.
