I still have that game! it was an assload of fun but I didn't play it for long because I think I was more into OTA or some other RTS at that time.Wombat wrote:settlers 3 like one of best games ever <33

Re: Most played-through games
i feel embarrassed to say that super mario 64 was the first game i ever completed D: (it took me about a year xD)
Re: Most played-through games
First game I ever completed... that's actually a really tough one!
I'm not sure which I did first but it would've probably been one of these:
-Galactix (in one night, up to 3 AM when I was like 10)
-Raptor: Call of the Shadows (first campaign... yeah, I only got the demo...)
-Commander Keen 5
-Earthworm Jim

That's what I don't get, everyone told me it was crazy hard but I beat it when I was a kid. And yet I've never been able to beat the final boss of Sonic 2...Pxtl wrote:@Caydr - I tip my hat to you, sir. Earthworm Jim was a brutally hard game.

Re: Most played-through games
respect to neddie for beating battletoads; that was a very difficult game; it was years after the release that i was finally able to beat it after countless attempts and learning where all the warps were. blaster master was also a very fun game, not quite as challenging, but finding your way through the maze is quite a grind.
xcom also is a really good game; i must have played through the original countless times.
i've probably played way too many games in my day; but here's a list of ones that i feel that beating was an accomplishment
- Super Ghouls and Ghosts (SNES) took me years; that is, to play the game over with the special weapon and reach the REAL final boss. exceedingly difficult.
- Impossible Mission (C64) used to have nightmares about this one and the synth speech "destroy him my robots!"
- Perfect Dark (N64) was pretty tough; getting every level beaten on the hardest difficulty was near impossible. its coming out soon on xbl btw, a great game to try.
- R-Type (SNES) download the rom and you'll see. keep a box of kleenex handy for when you break down in tears.
- Bionic Commando (NES) it will rape you. theres a badass new version on xbl, i'm currently working on the challenge rooms.
Morrowind is awesome, but i mean... you can save and load etc, it's not really all that much of a challenge per se... more like reading a really good, really long book. same with most of the rpgs... diablo is challenging, but more of a physical endurance thing.
first game i beat... had to ask my sister about this one but she thinks its SMB for NES.
why am i such a masochist? there's a lot of enjoyment in mastering a really difficult game... this movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0923752/ recently inspired me to pick up some of my old games and go for some highscores.
the best i've got is on timepilot, i think im about #80 in the world; same with megaman 9 endless attack (but with this, i know i can do better... perhaps even be the best)
thx for the cool thread, im gonna download and play xcom now :D

Re: Most played-through games
I'll clarify: Difficulty slider set to ~80% (friggin hard) and I played as an enchanter/alchemist/swordsman, I did not join house Telvanni (loads of free soul gems) and I did not abuse quicksave/load in my enchanting/alchemy. Seriously, if you still have a high lvl character save file, put all the stupid op shit like those constant effect hp regen robes etc in a box somewhere, and go do the ending of Bloodmoon. Halfway through the werewolf labyrinth, I was out of pots, 4 daedric grand soul gem enchanted weapons were empty (and broken: I ran out of hammers halfway across the island), I was down to a vanilla silver longsword and a bound longbow, only managed to kill Hircene with the ridiculous nuke scrolls which I had been hoarding all game. I thought it was pretty hard, and a suitably climatic ending to the game.KaiserJ wrote:Morrowind is awesome, but i mean... you can save and load etc, it's not really all that much of a challenge per se... more like reading a really good, really long book.
Elder Scrolls games are as hard as you want them to be: try getting out of the newbie dungeon in Oblivion on 100% difficulty.

I forgot crystal caves and secret agent! <3
Re: Most played-through games
what? do you mean im NOT supposed to immediately grab the umbra every game? or the sword of white woe :D ?
i think the biggest challenge run i've done of morrowind was playing using hand to hand, armour, and magic only (no bound weapons either, just crappy fireballs)
another good challenge is to not buy or sell anything all game.
i concede, you are a morrowind maniac :)
perhaps you've heard of this modding project... i wait with baited breath.

Re: Most played-through games
The first game I completed was on the sega master system. It was one of these games:
bubble bobble, earthworm jim, lemmings, mortal kombat, paperboy, road rash, sonic.
They're just the ones I remember having. I was about 6 or something back then so I don't rememeber it much.
