New instrumental bands I've found recently are Blotted science, Liquid tension experiment, Pelican, Powerglove (TETRIS THEME!), Russian Circles, and Warmen.

Also, blindly following what anyone who wants to write writes isn't such a good idea. It used to say that metallica was thrash metal. Anything on wikipedia that can be subjected to opinions or personal analysis is probably messed up, either a little or a lot. (Not saying that article is wrong, though there is a chance.)

e:listened to a bit of fugazi, was alright until he started singing. Anyways, I certainly wouldn't say its emo music. It has meaning and purpose, but it isn't emo. Also, wikipedia classifies them as post-hardcore on their page.
