Awwwww, I expected to see a blue screen.

~1.1k tris so far. I'm not too worried about the tri count, it's supposed to be a pretty rare unit plus the mod design would allow loading thousands of tris' worth of guns on the thing anyway. It's still lacking arms though those will only show if a certain weapon is installed, this is pretty much the basic configuration of the mech.

Kewl but why the chicken legs?is that a race of chicken robots?
Re: Random WIP
I love you kdr.

Regular legs wouldn't look good on it.Gota wrote:Kewl but why the chicken legs?is that a race of chicken robots?

Re: Random WIP
Nice KDR. Reminds me a little of the Nova Cat mech from CBT.
Re: Random WIP
Now that you mention it...
Re: Random WIP
"Chicken legs" are a design which allow both mobility and balance for units with a normal center of balance but high peripheral weight. Not everything is cosmetic, Gota.

Re: Random WIP
Love it, KDR, but imo the feet don't match the aesthetic of the rest of the design. I think a blockier one-toe foot would work fine here.

Re: Random WIP
Zsinj is right about the toes, they're just a bit too delicate for the rest of the model. The model overall rocks out.
Re: Random WIP

AA turret, i think it looks cool

Re: Random WIP
impossible the wy you have modeled it im sorry to say. unless you made the whole sphere tilt for elevation.
you could accomplish the sphere with ~half the tris, and elimiate the modeled bevels on the base while you are at it.
for reference:

342 tris

~250 tris
Spring's ability to smoothly shade things means you dont need 1000's of polygons to make things look smooth

Re: Random WIP
its only 343 polys and i did not use bevels, but if it cant slide over the top i will just make it a ground turret so it doesnt have to move in y that muchPressure Line wrote:impossible the wy you have modeled it im sorry to say. unless you made the whole sphere tilt for elevation.

Re: Random WIP

i would do something like this (well actually, i DID do it, easier to model than explain)
188 tri's :)
Re: Random WIP
I think Hoi wanted to model something like this (only his gun has 2 barrel sets):

This pic shows quite clearly how it is able to aim upwards.

And yes, the model doesn't allow for that and needs to be redone.

Re: Random WIP
i was thinking along these lines:

Six of one, half a dozen of the other really. Either way, Hoi's model is incapable of elevation
