i still use windows XP with service pack 1
can service pack 3 (or 2?)
increase my performance in spring?
i just want to have more performance, i dont need Wlan driver or the crappy windows firewall stuff thats why i untill now not installed sp2 or sp3...

it will help keep trojans and worms off your box, this can have indirect but huge impact on performance

sp2 also includes numerous new features and non-security fixes, such as the built in firewall being turned on and overhauled, as well as a lot of hotfixes, which fixed various GUI rendering and speed issues.
sp3 was reported by some to give a 15-25% boost to system speed.
Service packs are critical updates. Your not supposed to choose wether they're worth updating to, your meant to install them as quickly as they can make them, you only wait a while if your a systems administrator in a corporate or organisation environment, at which point you test it out to make sure your software's compatible and wait a few months to see what everyone else says, but that time has long passed for service pack 2 which is being referred to as the gold standard.
