Re: Penniless Voices and Pointless Opinions
Personally, I think the most visionary stuff in Spring is the development methods. I don't know of an open-source game that's using such powerful methods to allow all parties to see and use the sourcecode. However, there are a huge number of other things that make it a special project, compared to anything else I've seen.
Re: Penniless Voices and Pointless Opinions
Visionaries tend not to self-congratulate, and say how terrible everyone else is. Modesty!!!!! Arrogance!!
You would also do well to be more concise argh, you type far too much to say so little, most people skip your posts and read the replies to get the gist.

Re: Penniless Voices and Pointless Opinions
argh if we had no decompiler, people could not see my scripts if I did not include the bos files. I included them because I want to help people and forcing them to decompile my code would be an cruel thing to do.
nothing to do with spring. when gundam was a TA mod I did the same.

Re: Penniless Voices and Pointless Opinions
Including BOS sourcecode != several SVN tools, and a Wiki full of support information. It's not just a matter of scale, Smoth. It's the real-time access to a changing source. The fact that many mods / games have chosen to adopt that route is, I think, very interesting.
And AF, no offense, but again... if it's TL, DNR. TL != no content, or no content for the length. Some things cannot be made into haiku.
And since you seem to be confused, I never said I was a visionary, I was just addressing your arguments. I'm merely a hack, with occasionally original ideas. That's all.

Just as a side note, the author of that haiku about the trees and the forest came back later and said that we should see people for what they are, people. He was originally, at least in part, thinking about people when he wrote that Haiku. He was a very interesting visionary.
Re: Penniless Voices and Pointless Opinions
Nah, it is left over from the TA community. I am sure spiked helmet will tell you the same, when it comes to scripts, weapons and other tidbits we always shared in a great communal pool. There were never any licenses, just common courtesy and people sharing with one another both their script, weapon and effect tricks along their time in helping you out. all they ever asked in return, if they did it was not even written was that you respect them and share alike.Argh wrote:Including BOS sourcecode != several SVN tools, and a Wiki full of support information. Correct, argh has only ever called himself "ground breaking" or "revolutionary" not visionary.Argh wrote:And since you seem to be confused, I never said I was a visionary, I was just addressing your arguments. I'm merely a hack, with occasionally original ideas. That's all.

I tend to agree with your post AF, but maybe I'm the only one here who really gets what you were saying.

Doesn't mention me, I give it zero stars.
Re: Penniless Voices and Pointless Opinions
Indeed, I think argh has fillibustered the meaning out of it for anyone who read the thread.
Argh I haven't a clue how TL or DNR came into this especially since I have no idea what your talking about or what they stand for. Your the one whose confused here and have in turn started to confuse everybody else.
You would do well to consume a large humble pie and a glass of modesty.
(I shall have to ammend my blogpost, it indeed does not mention machiosabre anywhere, how could I have overlooked such a critical component)

Argh posts lots of nothing frequently, he throws in some words he picked up here and there. I think it is partly because many of his posts are made half awake and late at night.Felix the Cat wrote: as usual Argh proves he is incapable of writing less than 3 paragraphs that nobody will read about any subject, and making it all about him while he's at it.

tbh I think some of us would make a far greater impact if all we posted where screen shots and download links. We'd certainly save a lot of time.

I have no idea what you are talking about? Can you further your statement?

Sorry... what did we agree a 'visionary' was? And whats a real visionary versus a regular visionary? Are they twins?

I do not see spring growing in numbers, i see it growing in code and functions. People play games for fun, not to be enlightened, lectured to, or made to wait. You must speak their language for them to understand.

if you find in game shots of raiden porn.. you must have loved msg for all of it's faptastic glory.The_Big_Boss wrote:porn
Re: Penniless Voices and Pointless Opinions
Quit bamboozling people with raiden pornography, your raiden image is quite literally penniless, he doesn't even have any clothes for gods sake.
Re: Penniless Voices and Pointless Opinions
pffft if you had any taste you would see them!
