So Spring has killed my computer. Keep in mind when you read this that I'm not bitching about it, just pointing out that this is a very severe bug.
I was playing a battle with a friend; I was the server. The battle started out as a 4-person battle, with one spectator. One player had to quit, so the spectator took his place. Then another player got out of sync, so he quit, and the former spectator either lost his connection or quit as well. So it was my friend and I against each other. We played for a LONG while - the timer was about at 110 minutes or so - when I started getting error messages: "No sync message received from 2032" or something like that. Well, I asked him if he was still there - no response. However, I decided to keep playing and try to destroy his base, as I had two kroggies built and a third on the way, and he is a porcer like mad. When my three kroggies were all done, I sent them on their way. They received heavy fire from the many Big Berthas etc. in his base. As they were attacking, the game crashed, giving me the "Spring has encountered an error and needs to close" dialog box asking me to send in the error report. I clicked on "Exit" and my computer crashed to a warm reboot, as it always does when I get that window. However, when it tried to start up again, I got the screen that gives you the option to start up in safe mode, last known good, etc. I chose "Start Windows Normally", and it then went blank for a second and restarted again. I then tried "Last Known Good" and it did the same thing. Finally, I tried all of the flavors of "Safe Mode", and each time it would go through the listing of system files and stop on this one:
[...drive info here...]/WINDOWS/system32/drivers/Mup.sys
and then restart. So I have not been able to successfully start my computer in any setting, which is bad news because I never got around to making a boot disc as I thought the system restore CD I got with my computer would double as a boot disc.
I just wanted to bring this to everyone's attention. Also, if anyone knows how I could go about fixing my computer, that would be awesome too.
VERY Severe Problem (spring killed my computer)

Sounds like a file got corrupted when it crashed the first time. There is probably a chance of this happening whenever a crash like that happens. Try to get ahold of a normal windows XP install CD, it has a repair option that should replace the damaged file(s) without the hard drive wipe the restore disk will bring. If that doesn't work, well, I'm out of ideas.
If you are running Windows XP with SP2 you should be able
to recover.
1. Try an load your last known good.
If that didn't work, try this ..
2. reboot system and start it in safe mode with a command prompt...
If you can get the the file that is bad like mup.sys .... there is a
another copy at c:\windows\servicepacksfiles\i386
You can copy it over the other one. If you can't get to the c: drive
through safe mode try a boot disk and then try it ...
