Spring Replay Screensaver

Post by PicassoCT »

I know - nobody uses Screensaver anymore beside me... but i request it anyway, because it could be a good "Accidential Advertising" Tool.

What i request:
Could it be possible to have a Screensaver, that autostarts Spring, loads a random replay and moves the cameras spectacular around while in Game.
and let the whole thing vannish again, onece the mouse is touched ?

Just imagine the Effect of Friends dropping by seeing that Saver - or just letting it Run on a LAN....

Oh, and we could need a Key so that real Intrested Could get the CameraControll, without dropping back to work...

Let the Flamez beginn!

A screensaver must load and exit within splitseconds and not cause much CPU load.

Screensavers have never been used to save power. It was designed to prevent a fixed image to stay printed in the screen.

Nowadays, screensavers' point are not here to save anything. If you wanna save used power, you define power saving on your screen, hd, ...

If you consider using a screensaver to display beautiful things, spring battles could be fine.

The main difficulty is the camera. There is nothing to move the cam in an automated spectator mode. There was a patch proposal to make this possible in the dev section but never tried and probably beta.

Screensavers activate when the computer is not in use, that doesn't mean the system is idle.

There could be a little CPU-Check first, if there is time and space available. And you could have it kind of frozzen in the Background, reduced to nearly zero memory use.. After all there are only technological reasons speaking against it ?
