Infantry now free!
So, I guess Sony decided to end the devil-worship for at least one day, when they decided to make Infantry Online a free game again! (again = like it was in beta)
I wonder if it still has a playerbase?
Anyways:

Extremely similar to Subspace/Continuum (same developers) but cooler with better weapons, graphics, etc...
edit: it currently still tells you "you gots tah register o we gon' restrict yo ass!" when you try to play, but this is false.

The controls are a little dysfunctional...TradeMark wrote:wtf is this, so many popups and errors, takes ages to get to play this shit, its like third time downloading something now.

Anyway, you've gotta download:
Station client
which then downloads a "mod" if you will, like AA is a mod, called Infantry.
Once you start Infantry, you must download the map you play.
It's not all-inclusive... it'd be too big of a download.
Anyways, join a zone with more than a handful of people in it. And make sure you join a subzone (or whatever, like a "room") that has players... like, each zone has a bunch of different rooms with totally different battles taking place on the same map. They all have different player counts.
I'd advise starting on mechanized skirmish... it's fairly simple. You need to finish 2-3 games before you can choose anything besides "grunt" and "medic".
To choose your class, push F11. Then to join the game, push F12. ESC also gives you all the options.
The various weapons you get are listed along the right side of the screen, with short bit of text next to them describing how to activate them. For instance, you might push Tab to fire your shotgun and CTRL to fire your main gun and shift-tab to throw a grenade.
TBH, infantry's not that great of a game, but it's a nice diversion every now and then.
After seeing how the game is now, I can honestly say it was better during the beta, like 5 years ago...
