That is right.
I boot up WinXP, open a movie with Crystal Player, it warns me that trial is over, asks me if i want to connect to the Internet to update and re-lengthen the trial, it does that, now it plays movies with publicity, then at third movie Crystal Player get's 99% CPU usage. Then, Explorer.exe crashes and restarts. Then, after some mins, Explorer.exe gets to 99% CPU usage and it has been doing so after 2 logoff/logon and 1 restart.
Ho, joy!
I am willing to reinstall it, after all, even behind modem, router with firewal, internal firewall, anti-virus and knowledgeable usage of the OS, i is not something unexpected. But how do i reinstall WinXP without breaking my instalation of Ubuntu? BAH!!! I hate computer!
Explorer.exe at 99% CPU usage!?

crystal movie player sounds like the problem. I'd uninstall it.
VLC
Winamp
Media Player
Flash 9
The above will play 99% of all videos reliably without any problems. Combine with a reliable codec pack.
In the mean time ubuntu will be fine, just make a grub boot floppy/cd and use that to boot back into ubuntu and restore grub to the MBR. If that fails, you always have the boot floppy/cd to get back to windows.

Problem is that i liked crystal player more than those other.
Anyway, i think crystal player is the source of the problem but no longer the problem. The proces explorer.exe goes to 99% of CPU usage right from the start, even imediatly after a boot, even without me starting crystal player. That piece of crap won't ever hit my PC again...

Can you explain, or point to some where explaining, how do i do that CD to boot to ubuntu? Anyway, i would need to know, also, how to re-install the grub, so i would not have to rely upon the boot CD for ever, after a reinstalation of Win...AF wrote:...
