Yeah, the lag is due to it being terrible code abuse- that code calls into existence 240 different one-particle generator systems
Should've just done it as a stack of HeatClouds, really, but HeatCloud lacks certain types of motion control, and I wasn't satisfied with the results visually. Now that I know what I'm doing, I'd suspect that I could re-write it to be far less laggy, but I'm hoping to get animated bitmap-swaps instead, as that'd make tackling that problem far easier.
