Depends if they're still doing that tiered factory stuff instead of having some other way to reach higher tech levels and whether each tech level has all of the factories.
As for playing smoother, calling it "just like TA" doesn't mean there were no improvements, especially since our memory tends to glorify the past.

You didn't used to be able to zoom infinately high in spring and when you zoomed in it wouldn't seek to the mouse point. However, those took all of 2 weeks to add in after we saw them done in the sup comm videos.
