Reason A) I've been entertaining guests

Reason B) I've been replaying Max Payne 2: the Fall of Max Payne

Reason C) I've been editing some of my older stories for publication

Reason D) Damn you homewoooooooooork!

And so, right when you thought there would NEVER be another episode.

I mean, why? Why would one man keep writing what is obviously read by...three people on the forum? Why would one man not wish to frolic in the leaves and grass and decapitate his enemies with his oversize frontal lobe.

Why would a man give up sleeping with his fifteen beautiful women, all of whom are devoted to his needs? Why, just to write something?

Oh because I don't have fifteen beautiful women, my frontal lobe is normal sized the last time I checked and its the middle of winter!

Thats why!

NOTE: See the problem is that I put the Part 2 sign too DAMN EARLY!

So I have moved it to...now!

Part 2: Extinction

Eve brought her foot up, and then slammed it down. The bottle shattered under her foot, and the audience clapped, some of them enthusiastically. Most of them downright confused. Lizzy was clapping, crying, laughing and grinning all at the same time. Eve looked at Hicks and bowed slightly.

├óÔé¼┼ôI pronounce you├óÔé¼┬Ø the chaplain said, his voice somewhat stuffy, ├óÔé¼┼ôMan and Wife...├óÔé¼┬Ø.

Hicks glanced at him. The Chaplain sighed, ├óÔé¼┼ôSo mote it be├óÔé¼┬Ø. He closed the data slate with a snap and handed it back to Hicks.

Hicks pocketed the data slate and looked at Eve. ├óÔé¼┼ôSo├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, ├óÔé¼┼ôI suppose thats that├óÔé¼┬Ø.

Eve gulped, feeling butterflies in her stomach.

Lizzy walked up, Jason trailing behind her. Hicks turned to his new mother in law, but Lizzy caught him in a bear hug. Her augmented muscles added some 'omph' to the hug, and Hicks groaned.

├óÔé¼┼ôStrange ceremony├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason muttered.

├óÔé¼┼ôSssh├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy hissed at him, turning back to Hicks, ├óÔé¼┼ôI thought it was a wonderful ceremony├óÔé¼┬Ø

├óÔé¼┼ôWell├óÔé¼┬Ø Hicks said, running his free hand through his hair, ├óÔé¼┼ôI never did believe in my parents faith, but...well...I promised my dad before he died that my marriage would use his rites├óÔé¼┬Ø

Lizzy smiled, ├óÔé¼┼ôYou keep you're promises├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, turning to Jason, ├óÔé¼┼ôWhy didn't we ever get married?├óÔé¼┬Ø

Jason coughed, ├óÔé¼┼ôWait...├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, ├óÔé¼┼ôWe are married├óÔé¼┬Ø

├óÔé¼┼ôWe say we are married├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy said, pulling Jason away and chattering to him as they mixed with the crowd, ├óÔé¼┼ôWhy not just get a bit of paper and say it permanent like...├óÔé¼┬Ø

Eve smiled as her parents left. Or at least her step-parents. She looked at Hicks. He was laughing after Lizzy, watching as she nannered Jason. Eve supposed that step-parents were good enough. She slipped her arm around Hicks's waist, pulling him closer. More then good enough.

The dance wore long, long into the night. The music was strange and based highly on high pitched, fast instruments. The computer was playing a classical rhythm, a beat that Hicks had to demonstrate to the others. He showed them the strange dance, something like a jig was how Eve placed it.

The night wore on even longer then the dance. Drinks, food, and fresh fruit and vegetables from the hydroponic gardens. Everyone in the party was happy...really, truly happy for the first time. After the battles, the deaths, the wounds and the pain...it was amazing how the cares and worries of people melted away. Glickson was leaning against the wall, puffing on his cigar.

├óÔé¼┼ôPeople need to see a white dress├óÔé¼┬Ø he said. Eve wasn't wearing a white dress. She was wearing a marine uniform, with some fast growing posies ringed in her hair. But...the color of the dress didn't matter. The fact that it was being worn, even symbolically was enough.

He pulled a long drag on his stogy. Then, seeing Eve walking past with Hicks in tow, he caught Eve's eye with his own. ├óÔé¼┼ôOver here├óÔé¼┬Ø he said.

├óÔé¼┼ôYes Capitan Glickson├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said, saluting.

├óÔé¼┼ôNo need for that├óÔé¼┬Ø Glickson said, waving his hand, ├óÔé¼┼ôI just wanted to give you some advice my mother gave me when I left for the grand space ways├óÔé¼┬Ø

Eve laughed, covering her mouth with her hand. Glickson barreled onwards, ├óÔé¼┼ôMy mother said...Glickson if you marry a Man, poison him every morning and promise the antidote when he gets back home. But if you marry a woman, as you should you little bastard, then give her a flower every morning. Promise her a good back rub when she gets home. Any woman that leaves you for someone else deserves to die├óÔé¼┬Ø

Eve and Hicks stared.

├óÔé¼┼ôWhat?├óÔé¼┬Ø Glickson asked, ├óÔé¼┼ôIts perfectly fine advice├óÔé¼┬Ø

├óÔé¼┼ôI'll talk to you about that later├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said, looking away. Hicks laughed as she walked away. Glickson shook his head, sticking his cigar back between his lips.

Mike scanned down the data slate. There was a chime on his door. ├óÔé¼┼ôHey Mike...you in?├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy's voice came through tinny. Mike ignored it. After a few moments the chime repeated.

├óÔé¼┼ôMike├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy's voice came through again, ├óÔé¼┼ôMike its only thirty minutes until the ceremony├óÔé¼┬Ø

Mike closed his eyes. He was being petty. But he couldn't...stand looking at Jason and Lizzy. Not now, not with them together. His chest hurt, as if he was having a heart attack. He was so jealous. Mike heard the sound of footsteps walking away from the door, and he slammed the data slate down on his desk. It cracked, the screen shorting out. He sighed, looking at the clock.

Eve had looked around all night, trying to see if Mike had showed up. Near the end, as people were filtering out of the doors, she stood with Hicks. Her mother...Eve smiled. Her mother was already heading home, half helped by Jason, and the other marines from the squad were gone. Mankowski, Helena, Lee. Eve sighed.

├óÔé¼┼ôI always feel melancholy after a big party├óÔé¼┬Ø Hicks said in her ear.

├óÔé¼┼ôI know you're feeling├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said. She felt rather...crushed that Mike hadn't showed up.

├óÔé¼┼ôWell├óÔé¼┬Ø Hicks said, looking at the detritus left behind by the party, ├óÔé¼┼ôI suppose we should go├óÔé¼┬Ø

As they walked down the halls, arm in arm, Eve sighed. For some reason their relationship had...solidified. It had been pretty rocky before but now it felt like it had been surrounded in concrete. Eve wondered if that was just thousands of years of tradition speaking or-

├óÔé¼┼ôThis is an interesting development├óÔé¼┬Ø a female voice said.

Eve and Hicks froze in place. Hicks, because something about that voice was deadly sounding. Eve because something about that voice was very...very familer.

Eve turned around, slowly, and saw a figure leaning in a small alcove where the wall had been removed to repair some faulty circuitry. It was a common enough pot mark in the wall's of the Hannibal. The figure wore a long, draping cloak, and her face was covered by a hood.

├óÔé¼┼ôTook me a while to get a hang of this├óÔé¼┬Ø the figure said, turning to them, jerking her hood down.

Michelle grinned at them. ├óÔé¼┼ôYou know├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said, ├óÔé¼┼ôYou are...really persistent├óÔé¼┬Ø

Michelle raised her hands. ├óÔé¼┼ôI'm not here for a rematch, if thats what you wondered├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, ├óÔé¼┼ôI just wanted to congratulate you on you're marriage. Taraka and I...well...we have moved onto something bigger├óÔé¼┬Ø

Something in her smile made Eve suspicious. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat is it?├óÔé¼┬Ø she asked stepping forward.

Michelle raised her arm, as if to ward her off. Then Eve felt a blade tip press into her chin. The forearm blade had snapped out of Michelle's arm faster then she could see.

├óÔé¼┼ôNo touchy├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said. Hicks, finally recovering his wits, pulled out his pistol and started to edge to the computer console. Michelle snapped her other arm out and her blade was centered somewhere around Hick's chest.

├óÔé¼┼ôDrop the piece├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said, ├óÔé¼┼ôAnd I told you all I don't want a fight. Just wanted to wish you...a happy marriage├óÔé¼┬Ø

Then she was gone.

├óÔé¼┼ôHow?├óÔé¼┬Ø Hicks asked, ├óÔé¼┼ôYou're mom shot her in the face with a MNG├óÔé¼┬Ø

├óÔé¼┼ôDamned if I know├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said, ├óÔé¼┼ôMust have done that teleported trick before she fired. The gun would have had the same effect on the air...and it would look like she was vaporized...├óÔé¼┬Ø

She trailed off, looking at where Michelle had stood. Then she realized she should really report this in. ├óÔé¼┼ôLets go├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, all happiness faded from her mind.

Lizzy was half way to her room when suddenly she doubled over. Vomit splattered onto the floor. ├óÔé¼┼ôOh wow├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason said, ├óÔé¼┼ôYou must really be loaded├óÔé¼┬Ø.

Lizzy gasped, ├óÔé¼┼ôI didn't drink near enough├óÔé¼┬Ø she shook her head as Jason pulled a small towel from his back pocket. He scooped up the vomit as best he could and looked around for a trash can.

Lizzy shook her head, ├óÔé¼┼ôI feel funny...my brains going a little haywire too├óÔé¼┬Ø. She shook her head, trying to clear her mind. Then something long unused in the neural pathways of her mind, recognizing the symptoms, clicked on.

Lizzy stood up slowly ├óÔé¼┼ôJason├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, feeling her stomach, ├óÔé¼┼ôI think...I'm pregnant├óÔé¼┬Ø

Its actually an accident. Litteraly. A part of Lizzy's implant web misfired at an inopertune time and the sperm made it to the eggs and...well...there you go.

I mean in the future they'd BETTER have some kind of contraceptive.

Cold and misty morning, I heard a warning borne in the air
About an age of power where no one had an hour to spare.

Also CompWiz...please put more...words in you're posts. Its HARD to conjure the meaning of what you are trying to say with just a "Yep" or a "about time someone did"

Oh...episode!

Jason stood there, grinning like an idiot. Lizzy glowered at him. ├óÔé¼┼ôYou're pregnant├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, grinning broadly. Lizzy's glower became darker.

├óÔé¼┼ôHow?├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason asked, still grinning.

Lizzy opened her mouth. Then closed it. ├óÔé¼┼ôI have no idea├óÔé¼┬Ø she said.

├óÔé¼┼ôI have a few├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason murmured in her ear. Lizzy grinned. Then she frowned again. ├óÔé¼┼ôLets see the doc. Maybe I'm just going crazy├óÔé¼┬Ø

├óÔé¼┼ôWell, Elizabeth├óÔé¼┬Ø the doctor said, smiling at her, ├óÔé¼┼ôI believe that you are pregnant├óÔé¼┬Ø

├óÔé¼┼ôTold you├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason mutted in her ear. ├óÔé¼┼ôShut up├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy snapped.

The doctor sighed, crossing her arms, ├óÔé¼┼ôWell...you're a brain core, so that means they spent some money on improving the plumbing a bit. So we can assume about....nine...maybe eight months from now and you will get a nice new...├óÔé¼┬Ø she eyed her data slate ├óÔé¼┼ôSon├óÔé¼┬Ø

├óÔé¼┼ôSon?├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason asked, grinning again, ├óÔé¼┼ôI'm going to have a son├óÔé¼┬Ø

├óÔé¼┼ôI'm going to have the son├óÔé¼┬Ø Lizzy said, ├óÔé¼┼ôYou just get to watch├óÔé¼┬Ø

├óÔé¼┼ôI'll offer moral support├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason said, hugging her around the shoulder. Lizzy looked a bit shell shocked.

Eve ran to the nearest computer console and turned it on. After a few moments the computer bleeped, a message appearing on the screen. ├óÔé¼┼ôNot available?├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve muttered, ├óÔé¼┼ôSon of a bitch├óÔé¼┬Ø. She thumbed some other keys. A tired looking orderly, unlucky enough to pull the graveyard shift, came into view. ├óÔé¼┼ôI need to talk to the Capitan├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, ├óÔé¼┼ôIts very very very urgent├óÔé¼┬Ø

├óÔé¼┼ôI'm sorry├óÔé¼┬Ø The orderly said, looking a bit embarrassed, ├óÔé¼┼ôThe Capitan is...indisposed├óÔé¼┬Ø

├óÔé¼┼ôI don't care whats in his bed├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve snapped, ├óÔé¼┼ôI need to talk to him├óÔé¼┬Ø

├óÔé¼┼ôAll right├óÔé¼┬Ø the orderly said, a bit cowed. The screen blinked off and Eve waited for a few moments while he presumably warned the Capitan a call was coming in. Then the screen cleared and Keller came into view.

├óÔé¼┼ôWhat is it?├óÔé¼┬Ø He asked, somewhat curtly.

├óÔé¼┼ôI'm real sorry├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said, ├óÔé¼┼ôBut this is a big problem...Michelle just arrived to congratulate me on the marriage├óÔé¼┬Ø

Keller froze. ├óÔé¼┼ôAre you sure?├óÔé¼┬Ø he asked.

Eve nodded, ├óÔé¼┼ôBut the strangest thing is she says 'have a nice life' and then leaves├óÔé¼┬Ø

Keller closed his eyes, ├óÔé¼┼ôWell├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, ├óÔé¼┼ôI'm going to put the ship on alert. So keep you're pants...next to you if not on├óÔé¼┬Ø.

Eve smiled, despite the fear that was nannering at the back her mind. ├óÔé¼┼ôI always keep my pants close at hand├óÔé¼┬Ø she said. Keller nodded, ├óÔé¼┼ôI'll issue the red alert in a few minuets├óÔé¼┬Ø

Eve looked at Hicks, who had pulled his gun out and was looking around as if monsters were going to come flooding out of the woodwork any second.

Eve sighed ├óÔé¼┼ôLets go home├óÔé¼┬Ø she said.

├óÔé¼┼ôShouldn't we like├óÔé¼┬Ø Hick started, but Eve cut him off. ├óÔé¼┼ôDo what?├óÔé¼┬Ø she asked ├óÔé¼┼ôTheres nothing we can do. Michelle seems to have the same annoying ability of Taraka to just pop in and pop out whenever they do please, and there is nothing we can do about it. So lets enjoy our wedding night...as best he can├óÔé¼┬Ø

Hicks sighed and slid his pistol into his holster, looking around as if the walls were going to sprout arms and grab for him. ├óÔé¼┼ôCome one├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said, jerking her head, ├óÔé¼┼ôLets go├óÔé¼┬Ø

Keller turned of the view screen and sighed. ├óÔé¼┼ôMichelle├óÔé¼┬Ø he murmured. He supposed it was not all that surprising that she was still alive, not when you considered Eve. Eve had been almost killed more times then he could count. He walked to his still warm bath and slipped in next to Sarris. ├óÔé¼┼ôSo├óÔé¼┬Ø Sarris said, looking worried, ├óÔé¼┼ôI heard├óÔé¼┬Ø

Keller slipped his arm around her, sending water slipping around the bathtub. ├óÔé¼┼ôWell├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said, with a strange sense of fatalism, ├óÔé¼┼ôI don't think we can do much about it├óÔé¼┬Ø

Sarris rolled over, sending water slipping over the edge of the bathtub. Keller groaned, as this was almost their entire water allotment for the week. Every month, traditionally, they would have a bath together. It was great fun...but now some alien bitch had to go and ruin it for them. ├óÔé¼┼ôWell├óÔé¼┬Ø Sarris said, trying to change the topic, ├óÔé¼┼ôEve's married now. That would make the...third marriage this past three months├óÔé¼┬Ø

├óÔé¼┼ôLooking for a fourth?├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller asked.

├óÔé¼┼ôFourth?├óÔé¼┬Ø Sarris asked, sitting up and sending water splashing.

Keller grinned and started to tickle her. ├óÔé¼┼ôStop it!├óÔé¼┬Ø Sarris giggled, attacking him back. The water ended up mostly over the floor, but the two of them were having a bit too much fun for that.

Lizzy slept in her bed, snoring softly. Jason sat with his feet up, looking at the computer screen. Something was worrying him. Something vague, something not quite definable. He was overjoyed that he was going to have a kid...but something else was wearing on his nerves. Then he pinned it down. Four months and not a single call from his faction. He had set his second in command, Judas, up as the leader. But he expected some reports. He should call them with the tac-con soon. Then he looked at Lizzy and smiled faintly. The worry lessened. After all they had about two years.

Lizzy rolled over in her sleep, smiling faintly. Jason, for a moment, wondered what she was dreaming about. Maybe him. Jason looked at the clock. It was 01:10. He should really get some sleep in. He quietly lay down next to Lizzy, a little annoyed that she had taken all the blankets. Then she rolled over again, and quite unconsciously, slipped her arm around Jason's waist. Jason smiled and fell asleep.

The Galactic Core was...indescribable. Michelle looked at the sky in wonder, her eyes wide. Instead of drab white stars she was presented with a massive, glowing array of purples, greens, blues, whites. Clouds of interstellar gases, lit by thousands of suns crammed together. The planet itself was a bit drab, just a burnt out husk, bathed by micrometeorites and radiation. The sky was dangerous, as well as beautiful. Michelle was sitting on a mountain top, about the size of Olympus Mons. There were thirty three million people living on Olympus Mons. She preferred her version. Bleak. Empty. Pure.

She looked human, still, her hair flapping in the freezing wind of her planet. She saw a figure, distant, on the planes surrounding the her mountain. It was humanoid, but too distant to really make out at this distance. After a few minuets it came close enough for Michelle to make out the business suit. ├óÔé¼┼ôMaster!├óÔé¼┬Ø she cried, her voice tinny and distant in the thin atmosphere. She ran down the mountain, vaulting from rock to rock in the light gravity of the planet. She touched down after a few moments, landing like a ballerina next to her master.

├óÔé¼┼ôMichelle├óÔé¼┬Ø Taraka tilted his head slightly.

├óÔé¼┼ôMaster├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle bowed, ├óÔé¼┼ôI didn't think you would visit my home?├óÔé¼┬Ø

Taraka frowned, ├óÔé¼┼ôI'm no longer you're master├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, ├óÔé¼┼ôThe others accepted you...you are one of us├óÔé¼┬Ø he paused slightly, ├óÔé¼┼ôMichelle├óÔé¼┬Ø

├óÔé¼┼ôI still wish to serve├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said, still partialy bowed.

Taraka sighed. Michelle scared the others, to be sure. Not that her powers were anything too amazing. It was her mind set. She was too...obsequious. It was strange for the others to see one of them, even one as strange as Michelle, to be obsequious.

Michelle stood slowly, ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat do you wish of me, Master?├óÔé¼┬Ø she asked.

├óÔé¼┼ôEve├óÔé¼┬Ø Taraka said. It was a long standing argument with the others. They thought that Eve had been a mistake from the get go. They argued that the Humans would kill her one time or another. They wouldn't succeed..but they would drive her away. Then, the others said, Eve could have been shepherded back into the fold. They thought that Taraka had just pushed to be stronger.

So they had forced Taraka to...step down. To not go near Eve, to not send anyone after Eve and to not even think about Eve. So Taraka had taught Michelle. He had shown her how to warp space, how to control her body down to the cellular level. How to bend her mind to fit alien view points, how to fulfill some of the duties that she would need to fulfill She had chosen a planet to shepherd, this small desolate rock. She had shepherd it into...nothing. She wanted to keep it nothing for as long as she could. Life would sneak in, but she would keep it away for millennium of she could. She loved being alone.

Unless her master was visiting. Like he was now. ├óÔé¼┼ôMaster├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said, ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat is Eve doing now?├óÔé¼┬Ø

├óÔé¼┼ôShe...she's getting married├óÔé¼┬Ø Taraka said. Michelle blinked, looking up. ├óÔé¼┼ôOh├óÔé¼┬Ø she said ├óÔé¼┼ôI knew that├óÔé¼┬Ø

├óÔé¼┼ôYou...did?├óÔé¼┬Ø Taraka asked.

├óÔé¼┼ôOf course, master├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said, smiling.

├óÔé¼┼ôWell...good├óÔé¼┬Ø Taraka said, ├óÔé¼┼ôBut you know what this means├óÔé¼┬Ø

├óÔé¼┼ôChildren?├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle asked, sighing.

├óÔé¼┼ôGot it in one├óÔé¼┬Ø Taraka said, turning around, ├óÔé¼┼ôOne Eve Montoya was enough. Come on...we have some work to do├óÔé¼┬Ø He vanished in mid stride. Michelle fallowed, winking out of existence after him.
