THE LIVING FAQ

Post by PicassoCT »

Well we have brilliant Tutorials, written with much love for details. And we still have those Frequent Noob Failure Questions - which annoys most of the People active in the Forums.

Lets face it, some people need the "Live"-Reply and can`t work with Tutorials. Face it however doesen`t include living with it.

How about collecting finnished Failure Anwsers in this kind of way.

Hi - PlaceNameHere-

After thinking carefully, i come to the conclusion your Problems Sollution is

1. "Solution1"
with ExampleCode

2. "Solution2"
with ExamplePic
3. "Solution3"
with ExampleFile

Hope it helps (And so on)

The Rest would be Copy Paste. And that keeps People Smiling.

There are always going to be people coming along asking these basic questions, your right PiccasoCT, some people need a more detailed "personalized" explanation to get their heads around it, its not because the newb is stupid, it can be very daunting entering into a new skill if its a first for that person, I would probably be a decent example, I have been mapping since TA was released and can script missions as well as anyone out there but in spring mapping I struggle to make a decent map and still have trouble with some basic aspects of spring mapping and don├óÔé¼Ôäót even get me started on my Photoshop skills, its just embarrassing

mufdvr222 sorry you aren`t allowed to reply embarassed at this, you are not on the newb list. Hells Pass and Pass were to good. Go whine elsewhere, were they don`t know your works.

It is just, that (mostly the Mods) have to write and write again, the same "personalized" Answers - so why not prewrite the Answers, and give them then a personal touch! Like a Quoteready-FAQ

Perhaps a fault finding table would be useful? Such as;

"My textures are black" - - - - - - - Check you have a good copy of nvdxt.exe

"My textures are pink" - - - - - - - - Did you rename your .smt file?

Perhaps with more complete answers.

Yes, a FAQ like that would be fine- if people would read it, before posting. Most of them (including the early me) didn`t it, because they like to have a Mentor, that coments there progress. And thats will be almost every Moment a Mod. So why not hand the Mods a FAQ they can copy from...
