i don't see how it makes sense to compare spring maps with the ones of an FPS. like.. unit is walking through a tunnel, and the tunnel is more detailed... it is like comparing models of spring with those of an FPS, or comparing springs FPS with a dedicated FPS, or comparing the max number of concurrent units of spring with those in an FPS.
That video is a newer one, they also published a few screenshots from earlier dev versions. Compare them and you see it's all postprocessing (tone mapping, HDR, ...), their maps look dull as most spring maps w/o that.
