I am the shadow on the moon at night, filling your dreams to the brim with fright.
Anyway, looks good GMN.

Re: P.U.R.E. 0.55
GMN, why not go with a four-legged design while retaining the folding legs? That gets rid of the instability and the animating difficulties.
Re: P.U.R.E. 0.55
@GBscientist: a three-legged design is cool and will put the game even more firmly into competition with Starcraft II's unit designs, it's cool with me
@Guessmyname: The three-legged design is fine, just needs minor editing, as suggested, to allow the legs to go through the full cycle without looking bad.
I don't mind doing the gorilla-style walk-cycle, if the model is built for it. It'll be a fun challenge

Re: P.U.R.E. 0.55
why gorilla walk?
do this (maybe perhaps):
the legs rotate as they move. but i think GMN's model has no clear front and back on the chassis

Is true. Though it will look like some ungainly ballerina of sorts in motion...TheRegisteredOne wrote:why gorilla walk?

Heavy Infantry mech. Pilot sits in the cocpit / torso area (as in: the torso and head combined should be roughly the same height as a guy standing upright in terms of scale). It's fully articulated too!
Re: P.U.R.E. 0.55
Polycount?
As for the twisty-leg thing... IRL, if you tried that and the legs were stuck in the ground at all, the shearing forces would destroy the joints in a heartbeat... I've seen that done before, and it is cute, but completely unbelievable from an engineering perspective. I think I have a good plan for the gorilla walk, that'll make it feel more natural anyhow...

There's a reason we don't see three-legged animals in nature.

Re: P.U.R.E. 0.55
Three legged things (that I've seen - again, HL2 Hunters) don't have vertebrates. We simply didn't go down that evolutionary path.
Re: P.U.R.E. 0.55
Just because it isn't in nature atm doesn't mean it couldnt exist.
Anyway how do you explain starfish?
That suit with the big shield is impressive. Your churning out models like a car factory on a toilet!

By the way, all the joints can turn up to 90 degreesArgh wrote:To get it to work, the rear legs must have joints that allow for rotation on the Y axis > 60 degrees (must be able to reach a 90-degree angle, without clipping), otherwise they won't work in a believable way, given their travel.
Re: P.U.R.E. 0.55
so this mod is moving forward?what im most interested in is if its gona be fun and balanced...I hope its not gonna be nanoblob spam in the face kinda gameplay.
Re: P.U.R.E. 0.55
prolly wont like it Yan, the tanks that I saw appeared to be somewhat flat..
Re: P.U.R.E. 0.55
Um, you can just download the last build, Gota, and see if you like Overmind, they're pretty much like Arm and Core from OTA, and work OK with AIs. Resistance will be a lot different, I'm using LUA to do a lot of new stuff, but Overmind is completely familiar gameplay.
And yeah, they're flat tanks

Re: P.U.R.E. 0.55
Argh unless you went with sherman as your flatest profile for tank.. yan would be annoyed..

Re: P.U.R.E. 0.55
I know you're ticked with Gota/Yan Fang, but it isn't worth the derailment. He has his preference, you have your vision, you win - just keep modeling - but not in Atlantic City, those photos always get out.
Argh, where do I get the most recent beta? I've been dealing with some health issues, but the voices are still on the table.
