Unit icons do not appear for non-combat units

Post by Craigy »

Hi all,

I registered for this forum because I believe I found a bug using Spring 0.76b1. The problem is: when I am zoomed out, by using the TAB button for instance, the icons that should appear for units do not show up on Com, builders, buildings... they only show up on *most* combat units.

My laptop uses Vista, Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator.

The funny thing is, there are two other laptops (different brand) running Vista and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator without this problem.

I am posting this after looking in the bug tracker and forum for a similar problem. Of course I could have overlooked it, and if this issue has been resolved, I apologize.

The waa, nil, indicates you have Widgets running. Shut them down (hit F11, disable them) and see if you continue to have problems.

Ok, I shut down all widgets with F11, and then turned off Lua widgets in Settings. Neither of those fixed the problem.

Also, I forgot to mention in the original post that the icon display problem is not mod-specific. The same thing happens with Gundam, Kernel Panic, XTA and BA.

Should I file a bug report on this or am I missing something obvious?

Turn down "Unit icon distance" in the Render Detail tab of settings.exe/springsettings.exe.

Somewhere around 400 usually works best, IMO, but it could vary with different screen resolutions.

Sorry, that didn't work either. That setting was already at 100, but a value of 400 had the same problem.

You can see from the screenshot that some icons are visible, but others are not (you can see where those units are from the command queues).

I'll keep trying to find a solution, and I appreciate any suggestions.
