Can we please simplify the protocol
There are so many individual success/failure commands in the lobby server protocol now that it's kind of silly trying to implement it. I strongly suggest we go a different way: using the generic "Failed" command and adding a generic "Success" command. Something like… Success [COM...

Re: Which TA-derived games work singleplayer
I'd consider the discussion moot and kind of irrelevant now I wouldn't, not when the major lobby used by most games is still *cough* SpringLobby. Fortunately we're moving away from that. But with even Chobby expected to support multiple games this will still be a concern then. Also, further discuss...

Re: Which TA-derived games work singleplayer
its Pascal codebase Wasn't it Delphi? Either way, there are good reasons people have been wanting to rebuild lobbies from scratch. TASClient was possibly the only one that didn't deserve to be abandoned, but afaik it was Windows-only anyway? If I'd not been stuck on Mac I would've given it a go. Or...

Re: BA engine 105 on official host
If Apple chooses to kill off OpenGL, then perhaps the best is to offer "Spring for Mac" as a GNU/Linux liveUSB. Unfortunately, because Apple is Apple, this is quickly becoming less of an option. I've a 2017 MBP and it has no hope of ever being fully supported – boot into Ubuntu and I have...

Re: BA engine 105 on official host
I saw someone mention that engine 105 might work on Mac again, if thats the case it could be good to upgrade ba to 105 and return to official lobby from springfightclub host. Spring 105 plans are in flux currently. Last I heard target OpenGL version is Core 4.3, which would not be Mac compatible (w...

Re: Which TA-derived games work singleplayer
Hi there I've downloaded different games like Balanced Annihilation, Phoenix Annihilation, Tech Annihilation and so on. I've got NOTA to work by downloading it through another site. Balanced Annihilation: Best bet is KAIK, Shard Lua, or DAI (if it's a newer version of Balanced Annihilation) Phoenix...

Re: Which TA-derived games work singleplayer
I expect BAR has decent single-player experience https://www.beyondallreason.info BAR as an above-average single-player experience, but most of their attention is towards multiplayer at this point. Most of the love that Singleplayer needs is decent lobby support, anyway. I don't know why the ValidA...

Re: What does /ingame do?
Could always change that to "X multiplayer hours played since X/X/X" if it's a concern that it excludes singleplayer. Also reminds me that rank really should be based on something other than ingame time… maybe a compromise would be a player's global TrueSkill across all games (defaulting t...

Re: What does /ingame do?
Ingame time is currently a bit arbitrary, it ignores singleplayer, includes spectating, knows nothing about which games were played. For now all you should rely on existing here is the user ranks sent within the status bitfields. Sure it's arbitrary but I like curious statistics that I can stick in...

Re: What does /ingame do?
Ah, seems that SpringLobby was filtering out the error for me. I just stumbled across the error on my own. Seems a pity that this isn't an officially supported feature. Any reason it has to be unpredictable and undocumented? If you're sending stuff back, might as well say so. GETUSERINFO is not incl...

What does /ingame do?
If I send "/ingame" in a chat field in SpringLobby I receive the following messages: [13:08:51] ** Server ** Registration date: unknown [13:08:51] ** Server ** Email address: None [13:08:51] ** Server ** Ingame time: 1685 hours The GETINGAMETIME command used to give this message: [13:08:51...

Is it just me or are we getting a lot of these? Should we explore the possibility of a SpringLobby bug that wasn't caught in testing?

Re: cmake cannot find boost version 1.69.0
I remember the dependency game. It was almost fun. CMake Error: The following variables are used in this project, but they are set to NOTFOUND. Please set them or make sure they are set and tested correctly in the CMake files: GLEW_LIBRARIES (ADVANCED) linked by target "engine-legacy" in d...

Re: Running multiplayer NOTA on Mac these days
Hi TargetPrice,
Sorry for missing your post. I don't often check this subforum. I assume the only machine you're having issues with is the Mac?
Try getting your friend to register an account for you, and then log in using that account/password. Let me know how this goes.

Re: Spring Crash with violation acces when game starting
Likely to do with the AI. [f=-000001] Error: This stacktrace indicates a problem with a skirmish AI. CircuitAI is not designed to run with Balanced Annihilation, but primarily another Spring game, Zero-K. If I recall correctly, they had to change some stuff to make Circuit just run on BAR. So likely...

This is a common issue with linux and version 103. 103 is an old version and best to upgrade to one of the latest versions.

Re: Can't Register or Log In
A) I can't tell if my login credentials are correct, because the lobby "connects" pretty much whatever I enter Lobby has to connect to the server to attempt to log into that server. When connection is successful you will see [19:26:54] ** Server ** Connected to Official server. Followed b...

Re: Remove REQUESTBATTLESTATUS command from protocol?
It's a signal to the client that they have now reached the point where the server has sent them all available information about the battle I fail to see the significance of this information – but I guess there could be a reason a client may want to know this, even if I can't think of one. I'd sugge...
