Re: Balanced Annihilation V6.81

I play kbots nearly all the time. And mostly team games on tabula, delta siege dry etc. I've learned that if an opponent manages to get 20 or so stumpies and attack me I am in trouble. However if I build 20 rockos (as soon as possible while still retaining a normalish base expansion) and use them we...

Re: Balanced Annihilation V6.81

I've always tended to play many more team games and find kbots quite viable in these games. Their biggest disavantage is their lack of ability to cover large distances quickly. But in team games the front is generally quite narrow, and kbots are plenty fast enough to reach the battle front in enough...

Re: Balanced Annihilation V6.6

I think buff merl/diplomat is a fair comment. Compare to the dominator. On a typical DSD game I can do significant damage to enemy t2 porc with the dominator. However with merl/diplomat I never achieve much.

Disclaimer: I tend to always do worese with tanks than kbots anyway...

Re: Balanced Annihilation V6.5

If anything buff hovers or nerf ships. Hovers have a slight chance of taking out sea at t1, if you have a sea ally to support (i.e. 2 vs 1 should always win), or if you are playing an opponent who is asleep and think that the game won't start until t2, which is unfortunately tragically common. Again...

Re: Balanced Annihilation V6.5

I always thought the big problem with naval balance in BA was the difficulty of defending against early raids. With land, spend 150 metal to put down 2 llts, combine with a commander, and you have a defence that cannot be easily taken out. Whereas is sea the lightest defence costs 300 metal and is n...

Is your opponent a porc walker? Then spam your favourite level 1 unit and pwn whichever one of the porc walker's allies you feel like.

Re: Ressurecting the Showdown!

Do I understand correctly? It is fair game for various mod creators within the Spring community to copy commercial intellectual property and incorporate in their mods. And its not fair game for Zoy64 to copy the intellectual property from these derivative mods and include in his mod. (and yes I real...

Re: Lern2play noob: A hint

Just been watching some replays and can't believe how weird so many players are about teching. Everyone always seems to think they must build a fusion reactor and 8 nanos before they can start building t2 tanks. Maybe ok if you are in a comfortable position with the time to do so. But I see players ...

Replay: Epic use of guardian

Anyone who loves building solid defence and guardians must watch. Altored Divide Sefidel and Knobhead (north) combine with unpopular but highly effective tactics to blow a wide open hole in the left side and all but elminate one player. Meanwhile their allies Pitchan and Rainbow Magic in the middle ...

You can't put Australia and England together. Thats just not cricket.

We will fight the British on the beaches. We will fight them on the deltas. And on the divides and the comets. For the ashes of a crushed peewee.

No the first version was correct. Push until you meet the enemy. Then stop pushing, to instead poke, prod or tickle.

Re: Lern2play noob: A hint

Total beginner guide (BA): build 3 metal extractors, 4 solars, 1 light laser tower, 1 factory, 1 radar. Use commander to guard factory so it builds faster. Build 3 construction vehicles. Build flash or instigator on repeat. Use 1 con unit to build more solars. One con unit to build more metal extrac...

and attacking in hills. Yeah I did forget that they can be good if you get them on top of a hill before the enemy. Have you had much luck attacking using hammers to attack against a hill that is already defended? I usually stay right away from occupied hills unless I have v-launch or vehicle artill...

Re: Balanced Annihilation V6.31

Who thinks hammers and zippers are underpowered? Hammers are slower more expensive, shorter in range and weaker in combat than rockos. But they can fire over wreckage. But I've never really found that very useful as if the game has lots of wreckage there is enough defenses that the hammers short ran...

How about a song to pull the rug from under me

Team game - If you are lucky enough to face an opponent who likes fixed defences, build a spam squad and attack someone else to create a 2 vs 1 situation.

Re: Spring Strategies, each and everyone!

Defense is so a clever enemy can't make your life miserable by sending random parties of 3 flash through your base. Build the minimum amount to make the enemy send attacks that are big enough that it is worth your limited time and attention moving your mobile army to intercept.

Re: Springs player base is diminishing?

I discovered dwarf fortress via the spring forum. I currently play more Spring because I'm waiting for the next major update to dwarf fortress.

In some sense very different games. But they are both strategic. And both attract me more for the interesting game play, rather than flash graphics.
