Re: Physically Based Rendering
And another possibly "stupid" question: Are flat polygons being rendered double-sided? So when for example doing the blades of a windmill as just one flat polygon, would both sides of the blade be rendered just fine or will this lead to problems as the face has just one normal?

Re: great discussion on ballance.
I stuck with mathematical balance for the most part on MF. I use it to assign costs automatically for most units. Imo it's the only reliable way to get consistent balance between lots of units without lots of player feedback. Don't expect it to produce "perfect" balance (there's no such t...

Re: great discussion on ballance.
Nice find - thanks for sharing! :-) I also agree that what they call a chess like "mechanical balance" actually isn't achievable no matter how hard you try. Plus for the majority of Spring games we are creating RTS games which add like a whole new world of complexity and mechanics to the m...

Re: Is it fun to lock threads?
massively toxic community from the *a players. WIth that not being an exclusivity to *A focused guys. I still vividly remember the flak I got when presenting Maximum Annihilation - I actually had a look at the old topics a few weeks ago and while moderation did remove the worst parts, the instant d...

Interesting concept although I have to say that my brain seems to be hard wired to treat this as a north vs. south map...

Re: Wiki Update
Allright - I'll keep the bracket style the way it is then and will start adapting the callout pages in the proposed structure.

Re: Wiki Update
Basically yes, but actually no... I got the brackets to sort of work but in order to make it work reliably I added two additional templates: {{bracket}} {{rbracket}} One creates brackets around a text or just the left bracket, the other creates just a right bracket. This works fine but I f...

Re: Physically Based Rendering
Yes - even when you could alter the draw order in a way that the unit is drawn after the map this of course then only would work in the standard top-down view i.e. when using a free camera which looks around at low altitude the unit easily could be drawn through mountains which should block the view...

Re: Wiki Update
Allright - I can change that. I took the color from existing wiki pages where this color was used for remarks. In the end it's not meant to be present that often though as it's more of an indicator that a proper description still has to be written (even if it just states the obvious). But yeah - I c...

Re: Physically Based Rendering
Like this? EDIT: In terms of a feature request it probably would make sense to get a Lua interface to the terrain chunk rendering. As the terrain is divided into lots of tiny chunks what's missing is a way to identify the respective chunk(s) under a unit via its position on the map followed by the o...

Re: Wiki Update
I started by adapting the LuaCallout template to what I think works comfortably when editing the wiki code. I then started to adapt the Lua System category as you can see here: Original: https://springrts.com/wiki/Lua_System Adapted: https://springrts.com/wiki/User:Master-athmos Apart from missing i...

Re: Physically Based Rendering
I have a question regarding the framework / how the engine handles unit shaders in general: What is the draw order when applying shaders on units with regard to the map rendering? In other words, is it possible to e.g. have an elevator shaft that goes deep down which the fragment shader draws after ...

Re: Wiki Update
I'd like to help if possible. I dug through the Game Development and Lua Scripting pages for the last 2 months to LUAfy Maximum Annihilation and in order to start writing some custom LUA scripts / edit existing ones to my liking. That's also where I noticed the ArmorDefs page and created the topic a...

Re: War Machines RTS
You can just launch it via the Spring.exe and have a look. I didn't look at the unit stats in detail but it basically seems to be BA unit choice wise except for like 2-3 additions (there e.g. was THIS building for Arm). He replaced the TA textures with the basic style you see on the pictures althoug...
