We are not using much OO from Lua, certainly no classes.
We decided to keep Lua at scripting language level for ease of
modding and to maintain objects from C++.

Ah. Thanks for the explanation. To make my post a bit clearer: The project we are working on is not Spring based. We wrote our own games engine and the graphics uses Ogre3d.
