Nightly Builds
Anyone notice that http://planetspring.free.fr/ is out of service? Any other location to download nightly builds and binaries?

Re: Effect of LUA Scripting
You missed the point completely. The point of it is that in some cases, slow code cannot be avoided in Lua. Or that was the original argument.Auswaschbar wrote:I can write fast code in Lua, and I can write slow code in Lua.
Just like I can write fast code in C++, or slow code in C++.
So what?

I don't prematurely optimize. I just wish to make a plan that leads to the best performance and efficiency.KDR_11k wrote:Premature optimization is the root of all errors.

Re: [Request/Idea]Auto-cloak fusions
I disagree with Java being more 1337! But that's for another discussion thread. I recently had to stop learning the language due to spring break. Basically I became lazy. Anyways, I'm back in my groove and learning again. Also, Lua isn't in C++ or even similar to C or C++ for that matter. Lua is syn...

Re: Strange exceptioin
I did a bit of research on what I remember. It's a very common exception that's thrown on Vista operating systems. I'll be moving to Gentoo Linux pretty soon on this laptop, I just need to make sure there are drivers that work on my hardware. :/ Same exception as this one: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1...

If I'm correct, Nightly Builds installers already come with SpringLobby.

I'll make the both. One for keybinded cloaking, one experimental for auto-cloaking.

Re: Effect of LUA Scripting
My original thought isn't that it was too slow. My original thought was that it was too slow for large operations that can be more efficient simply because it being interpreted. Also, I never said Spring itself was slow. I think Spring itself is at least well made on the outside and I'm 90% sure on ...

I didn't / don't dispute any of those facts. I just didn't like the assumptions you made about me. It was uncalled for so I retaliated. When did I not accept those facts?

Re: Effect of LUA Scripting
I don't remember being a smartass. I remember being told smart ass remarks to insult me in a post not too far away from this though. And my argument is that because Lua is an interpreted language, it can in certain situations be slow and clunky. And I also mentioned that it felt like learning a bad ...

Re: Effect of LUA Scripting
I give up. You guys went off topic and ended up going against me in arguments I'm on your side in. I never said Lua is a bad language. I just mentioned that there are fundamental flaws within a majority of all interpreted languages. Unreal Script, Java (kinda), Python, and Perl are just examples of ...

Re: Effect of LUA Scripting
It's a very arguable situation where both sides have points. No, you don't have any points, just a lot of misinformed mumbojumbo. Because they do not require a type, all variables in Lua I'm assuming allocate a large amount of space. The fact that a language is dynamically typed (like Lua) means ty...

Strange exceptioin
We started the game, I built three Metal extractors, two Solar Panels, a T1 Vehicle Factory and was walking to make a 4th extractor. The crash happened in the middle of making the first Const. Vehicle. I'm not sure what everyone else was doing. http://pastebin.com/m34697bbeb \\Infolog.txt The above ...

Re: Effect of LUA Scripting
Simplicity is definitely a key to Lua. But having a failing AI in C++ isn't C++'s fault. That's definitely the programmers.

Re: TASClient Memory Leaks and apparently Infinite loops >.>
I had to clean it out. I lowered it a good 5 C after I dusted it off. But never the less, it's happened again and it's not exactly healthy for my laptop to go into game type temperatures when I'm away or don't notice it.
