Many maps use a combination of baked & dynamic shadows (from a chosen sun dir) to create their terrain shadowing - consequently in most cases the game should not risk changing the sun pos.

On the OP, no bug was reported but it might have been related to lobbyserver work (and if so, I guess was resolved weeks ago, unintentionally with other fixes).

I guess all that's happened is that what was once "new ideas" now became "a normal LD game".

I'd like to try something different again. I think we should look push in directions that the engine is good at, rather than just doing other game styles with lua.

It's not really fair to say that mac support will be "dropped". Apple lacks support for some standard OpenGL features, which were added to OpenGL around 2010. Spring will update to use these features and probably doesn't have the resources to keep ~10yo backwards compat alive. Looks to me like apple...

I think I see why you're asking - I'll relax this restriction to allow a host with no botflag to bridge into its own battle, provided that the host uses its own username as the location.

No, this part only relates to bridge bots and unification of channel/battle handling. But,
we'll think about when to turn on the various features listed in the OP after we've finished with the code updates, and we'll try to ensure that devs/hosters who need time to prepare do get it

The second (and last) set of code updates are planned go onto the live server on Friday. Consequently, there may be short term disruption / downtime for the lobby server, beginning 8am Friday, Feb 15th.
