Re: A Gaming Site incl Spring Support [Coders/Gfx wanted]
Fair enough. I understand we have very different aims, however, the site will also support modifications and perhaps development further down the line. So maybe it can tie in -- i'm intending to 'get fingers in quite a few pies' to excuse the phrase  As to my previous post, you'll have to view...

Re: A Gaming Site incl Spring Support [Coders/Gfx wanted]
Site update again! Added a new logo and theme. The old logo was pretty poor so replaced it. Hopefully this has more of a feel of a gaming portal than the last attempt. Looking at using the moo.fx package for menus and the general animation of the site. Check out the site as usual here http://www.por...

Re: The performance of the Spring engine
d) Unless you look at the code, you can't say how is it "optimized". Multi-threading support isn't considered an "optimization", it's a feature. I would love to see most people here attempt to write multi-threaded applications. In fact I'd challenge most to write an incredibly s...

Re: Spring Site 2
Swift, it is my hope that the FGJL forum can become a good place for developers to work from. I am working on making the specific project sections more distinct and since we are soon to lose the TAUniverse site thanks to trolls I am going to have to step up my time table. With each time I begin to ...

Re: Spring Site 2
If you want to give two user's different views why don't you just implement it as a portal rather than a normal web page? You can then allow users to select their own views based on their preferences when they log in. Seems like a much more reasonable suggestion than to combine both of the content. ...

Re: A Gaming Site incl Spring Support [Coders/Gfx wanted]
Another update. I've had a little play around with css and have come up with a v basic layout for the site. As such, there isn't much to see by way of graphics and I still need to add a lot of the content via modules etc... Check out the revised layout below:- http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y232/j...

Re: Spring Site 2
To be honest, I totally agree with AF and the other guys with regards to infrastructure over design any day of the week, but then I think most would. It is important though that from the outset you have a well defined idea of what you want the site to look like at least. The old phrase "Content...

Re: A Gaming Site incl Spring Support [Coders/Gfx wanted]
Update:: I've moved to Joomla! some of you may have heard of it. Just put a bog standard template on it for now but over the next few weeks I'll be giving it a unique identity. Check out the features of it.. (content wise, ignore the graphics!) Any suggestions as to how it should look, give me a sho...

Tbh I know exactly what uni can do to people... I was at uni 3 or so years ago, partying, ladies and drink. But he should have at least temporarily handed over responsibility that's a bit 'out of order' that he didn't!

p.s. is there something wrong with the unknown-files website? I tried to access it but it appears to be down :( Ya, unfortunately it died mysteriously a while back. We haven't been able to contact the owner... which is a little disconcerting, but not much can be done :/ sounds like something "...

Java Swing and AWT Standard API Framework's are absolute pants in my opinion. Hideous and cumbersome in their use. Functional sure but don't really promote a 'polished' professional image.

Laszlo - Spring Client Interface
If you guys were ever looking into redoing the webinterface and chat room for spring you might want to look into using this program as the front end. It's open source and allows you to create animations with ease.

Yeah, and it's also not going much anywhere because of OTA :| It was a great thing at the start, but it's time to lose it if you want to progress anywhere much. That's the most intelligent thing someone's said in this entire thread. TA is old, more than 10 years old in fact. Fine it's great buildin...

Re: A Gaming Site incl Spring Support [Coders/Gfx wanted]
Appreciate your input Fuzion. Yes, you're right about the logo... I made it myself but I'm not a graphical designer by trade, I stick to coding which is what I'm much better at. But like with most logo's it will evolve, I just had to be careful with the spiral logo because the idea was already used ...

Just an update on progress....
I've setup a Drupal basic configuration on http://www.portal-gaming.com.
Check it out. I'm still looking for developers to fill some of the prospective positions advertised, so if you're interested let me know!

Re: no respect for spring
The old problem with assessing new mods is that many players play them like BA (even if the load screen is basically a big RTFM), lose their first few games while not knowing what to do and decide it's because the mod sucks. You couldn't have summed it up better. To be honest, I felt exactly the sa...
