Re: Playtest games - postponed for the moment!

Doublepost to bump - As we already have an impressive backlog of bugs to fix and features to include, we'll be skipping the next few weeks playtest games. Thanks for all the feedback so far, it's definitely been very valuable! (and thanks for giving us some fun playing the game :-), that was nice al...

Re: Do you like roly polies?

My cousins used to tell me how they'd "teach lice to swim" - I guess that would usually end up with the lice drowning...
I think they're pretty neat little animals though :).

Re: Ok guys, here's the deal

Meanwhile, I'd really like to know if WiE has granted smoth permission to distribute his alternate textures for the EoW BattleTech units. I've discussed EoW with seanheron [...] If you have questions you should ask sean. It's a mixed bag - in short, for some yes, for some no - but in those cases ri...

Re: Ok guys, here's the deal

I'd tried to put it politely and hoped the discussion would peter out. Since it hasn't: I really don't get what people here, stating in various flavors that Wolf's statement/clarification is "unreasonable", are hoping to achieve. If it's aimed at the terms of use, I have this to say (Besides obvious...

Re: Playtest games - every Sunday

@nightcold: No, if I'm honest, it's more related to this: I'm too lazy. I think I was hoping to tidy it up /look to use a more up to date version before dumping it into the main game file. Regarding installation/ accessibility - we actually have the game set up as a portable install in the repositor...

Re: BA model replacements

Mr. Bob, I was really glad to read the "must read" section - cause after stumbling into this massive thread a week ago I'd been thinking of approaching you with a similiar proposal :D. I very much wish that this flies, and I do think I'll be able to help in some manner on the "wrapping" of the game.

I'm too lazy.

Anyway, new version is up! Changelog later (even if it's short). I'm in a rush atm.

Re: Ok guys, here's the deal

Fair deal I think. And as Wolf-In-Exile said, we've been in contact with each other, so no complaints from me. I also fully agree with smoth - no, this certainly isn't a killer for Engines of War. Interesting to hear what you're up to otherwise Wolf, hope the course is productive (and I can understa...

Re: alt skins.

I don't think the negative tone is warranted bob - any blame for stuff having gone awry can be placed squarely on my shoulders. Since it's me that's managing the game atm, and I had been in contact with/ talking to smoth about making the alternate skins, it was also my fault for not having gotten in...

Re: Dev Meeting Minutes (2011-02-28)

@smoth - from how I read the code, it's implicit categories that are assigned to units according to a number of variables - eg factories are non moving builders, etc. (Those categories I figure would be used for the engine's handling of those units, I guess). As far as I could see, it looked like th...

Not got round to get them ingame myself yet. But they're going to be in this Saturday's version (only 4 will be playable atm though).

And another Sunday game successfully concluded :D. If anyone's interested in the replay, I'm happy to deliver.
Otherwise, thanks again to all those that were there, and as usual, there were pretty much mountains of stuff that came up that could do with fixing :/.

Now why that would remind you of the Ballista - no idea :P ?
Sure, that's a pretty obvious inspiration bob took there.

Re: Playtest games - every Sunday

Sure :). New version is now online ( and on Rapidshare as well Edit - download file deleted ). - Still not on rapid I'm afraid :/.... Since the changelog is very short this week, I'll post here as well: v 0.0.6 - SightDistance of Ground units cut to 2/3 of previous (Engines now 600. UGV's 550) - add...

Re: Reign and Collapse -Planetary Conquest/Fleet Command WIP

I think what the reference to "THIS" was meant to state, was that it might be worthwhile for you guys to have a look into that game - since it has some nifty stuff, and it's all free to use ! I'm thinking more on the code-side here, since that's where you've stated your weakness is. (no need to use ...

Re: Linked Units

Answer for a casual player: Yes this is possible, but it isn't built-in functionality (I know of no such structure existing at the moment - though that doesn't mean noone has it..) , so there's a bit of scripting / coding you'd have to do to get it to work.

Re: Brainstormin' at work

I've unfortunately still not had a proper game of this, but just going by your description, I think the anti-cruiser plane sounds most interesting - (that way you might get more spectacular air battles? ) but primarily, it sounds like something the attacker can counter to an extent (eg by sending al...
