Hm, so the problem seems to be with 98? I run 98 as well...in theory, my hardware should be able to support Spring just fine. That's a shame, hopefully the developers will fix that (if that indeed is the problem), since I'm sure anyone not using XP has no desire to downgrade their OS. <_< Maybe this...
