Re: Going back to 0.82.7.1 on Ubuntu 10.10
Funny coincidence, I also run ubuntu 10.10 and updated to spring 0.83... I have the spring repositories listed in my ubuntu software update, so when spring 0.83 became available it was installed with all my other updates. I didn't know it wasn't 'live' yet... how was I to know? :( I'll just play som...

Re: ATI driver crash
My ATI Radeon HD 3850 (on AGP) was having crash problems with the latest Spring. CA crashed the most reliably. I updated to the latest ATI driver (quite an achievement, it turns out) and now it runs.

Re: Project 10 in 2010 - 1,000 players by the end of 2010
The latest version of the Spring front-end is a huge improvement over the version I started on (summer 2007), and the game feels more like a commercial release. Re: Aircraft carriers / air bases possible?
The carriers in CA automatically launch the attack drones against targets within range, and the drones return for fuel and repair. I think that setup would be a good start for a realistic airbase/carrier. You could set up helper AI/LUA trickery to manage airbases: the airbase 'unloads' its units whe...

Re: [WIP] Global Annihilation
I'll bet you've played Emperor: Battle for Dune. Combine that with the single player from Dark Crusade, and that's what this idea reminds me of, but MMO style. The use of WZ2100 models would be a good way to kick-start the project, and keep with the post-apocalyptic theme. I've always wanted to see ...

dirt as a resource; terraforming
Would it be realistic to implement a terraforming tool in Spring? I know Spring supports ground deformation both through explosions and via limited ground-leveling to place structures. Something as simple as trenches for classic WWI-style warfare could be a neat feature. However, adding a trench to ...
