Re: Request for BA repo transfer from Bluestone

After such a long time nothing seems to have changed. This is quite disappointing. Still no insight on any side. Guilty are still only the others. Still mostly personal attacks on both sides (only Hitler comparisons are missing I think, but maybe Trump comparisons do count nowadays ^^). In my opinio...

Re: BA should not be owned by engine

I would like to have rights to configure stuff like protected branches etc. I won't act in any "political" way in this matter towards one side or the other. At best I will also remove myself when I can be of no help anymore.

Re: Request for BA repo transfer from Bluestone

I tagged like 40 releases and moved master to a BA10 branch. Current master now is identical to 9.46. Hell, the repo at time around 2016 is pretty much broken since someone commited symlinks containing local file system pathes and then updated those symlinks content (!!) with source code contents. T...

Re: Request for BA repo transfer from Bluestone

I am quite ok with Git I guess and I can offer to help you out maintaining the repo in case you are not very fluent with Git. E.g. I could structure the repo by moving the BA10 stuff to a separate branch and by providing a clean starting point on the master branch for BA9/11. This is of course prett...

Re: BA 11

Yes ok, but the interesting part is the commit history. Is it available somewhere? Even if you don't have access to that github repo right now, I would recommend to at least work with BA11 in a local git repository to keep track of changes. You can push that repo to an online repo like github or git...

Where is the source code hosted? Is it this?

Couldn't find any traces of v11 there. Latest commit on master branch is from May 2019. Any hint please?

Re: The end of the maintenance branch -- "BA" questions

How about updating Spring to a newer API like Metal or Vulkan? Of course you could hire someone to do it for you Or you could and so, thanks to the wonders of the GPL, could anyone else. Best of luck, I don't see it happening. I believe you misunderstood my point... It was about abma claiming that ...

Re: The end of the maintenance branch -- "BA" questions

it was apple who removed opengl apis and so broke spring. Hm, it is a bit ironical that you see it that way, no? Apple dropped support for a (in their opinion) legacy API and wants to move on. How about updating Spring to a newer API like Metal or Vulkan? Of course you could hire someone to do it f...

Re: The end of the maintenance branch

I am not commenting on anything or want to start a discussion but out of interest: is it true that BAR is holding BA domain (www.balancedannihilation.com) and refuses to hand it out to BA people? Even redirecting BA requests to BAR? I know, it's Ares and stuff, but that is quite a heavy accusation i...

hokomoko wrote: 08 Sep 2019, 10:22 It's good to have maintained AIs in the repo to easily test that things compile OK and to ease shipment.
If testing is the main reason to keep the AI then I think you should consider to use unit tests instead.

Re: many small rooms > one large one

Sad to see suggestions like this are sill present in the head of some people. When leaving all emotions out and assuming that no one is right or wrong then it seems that dev's interests and player's interests just differ too much in this community. But after all I actually think it is a fair situati...

Re: Its time to remove the engine restrictions

I would like to get replys from the guys who are claimining in this thread that there are drop-in replacements for BA9 readily available. My own criteria are not that high. But I am actually afraid that there might be some people out there that have very high criterias. But that shouldn't be a probl...

Re: Its time to remove the engine restrictions

To get one step closer to real facts and one step away from a bunch of people stating things about "the BA community": So what exactly is the current game that is "100% BA9 balance" as Forb and others claimed? I really want to know. If that really exists then we are getting somewhere. Feels like hun...
