So this will include
(1) A min Spring version requirement for botflagged hosts, which will typically be the current release version.

Re: New Year, New Lead Dev

Man i pretty much agree with everything you said. Remove reversing until initial veh balance is sorted out <3 Combomb range nerf revert <3 <3 Rezzer nerf (pretty sure this is now actually fully reverted) general <3 but i also think it has been done already Thin down the bloated widget list where pos...

Re: TrueSkill 2 vs WHR

I think trying to measure a player's performance by anything else than win/loss is bad. The system should not dictate players *how* they win. Otherwise it will have influence on the actual gameplay.
The guy building that one nuke in the right moment might be game deciding.

Re: Upcoming lobby server updates

You should also talk to Shox, who is working on https://github.com/ShoX1988/Absolut-Annihilation. Shox working on AA still? Thought that is over since he is now maintainer of BA, no? So I guess Shox could be asked to allow to release a 104-compatible BA 9.50 or whatever if someone actually wants th...

Re: Upcoming lobby server updates

Sorry if the word "arbitrary" was not accurate. As I am not a native speaker I might often be not as accurate as I would like to be. Yeah, it's Kloots decision then. I sometimes wish he would communicate more with us people here. As I consider the sideffect of in fact "banning" the main mod as quite...

Re: Upcoming lobby server updates

BA10 is ... BA9 is ... It's just a question if it's ok to ban the game that is currently played the most by players. For just over half of its lifetime the Spring server forced every single project to use the most recent engine - during that time no one ever thought of it as "banning" anything. You...

Re: Upcoming lobby server updates

afaik 103.0 has a crashbug which allows spectators to crash the running game. I'm pretty sure this will lead to more players leaving than the few osx players we have. That is not the point I was trying to make (btw I can't remember the last time someone (aka Mando) crashed a host). The problem is t...

Re: Upcoming lobby server updates

I think it's safe to say that BA9 is currently the most played mod. BA playerbase is actually recovering at the moment. I am sure you know it can only run on 103. Not sure if it is a good idea to ban it, especially in this moment. But let's see what will happen. Might possibly lead to players leavin...

Re: BA10s "official letter" to Chris Taylor

I think they call stuff like that a "derivative work": https://www.legalzoom.com/articles/what-are-derivative-works-under-copyright-law The paragraph "Who Can Produce Derivative Works?" is interesting and might be relevant for BA. I think the only really clean way would be to get direct permission f...

Re: springrts.com CSP is blocking imgur as a source

Relying on external image hosting providers is pretty bad. They are out of your control. I hate it alot in other forums when browsing two year old threads and all those images are gone cause some random image hoster decided to go out of existence.

Someone should invent a way to duplicate data to another place so when the original data is lost, it could be restored from the safe place.

Re: BA10 Vehicle Movement Problem

I am not sure if I really understand what you are saying, but I read it as: There are two differents "modes" that a vehicle can use to turn around. One mode involves the unit to stand still for about 2 seconds and the other one involves driving a large curve. Which one of the two modes gets chosen i...

Re: BA10 Vehicle Movement Problem

Thanks for that answer, interesting read! I talked to Triton and other devs about vehicles but we never managed to have a constructive discussion about the topic. Every criticism was just dismissed. Let me state that I generally like the buffed vehicles in new BA and think it is an important change....

Re: News: BA 10.03 End-game rules, bugfixes and adjustments

Developers do not use Discord because it is far from suitable for such things (I can say as a developer). It's a gamer chatroom. Anyway, every BA balance discussion we have trying to be constructive is ended by someone joining and turning it into an offtopic Discord discussion. So we can just stop t...

Re: News: BA 10.03 End-game rules, bugfixes and adjustments

Currently, in team games, the outcome of a lastcom vs lastcom fight isn't dependant on "who is killed first" or "what weapon was used" but merely on a distance calculation between an allyteam's last comm and this allyteam's further unit (from the blow). The team with the highest distance (due to a ...

Re: News: BA 10.03 End-game rules, bugfixes and adjustments

Com rules were inconsistent between different game modes (team vs ffa). Now com rules are inconsistent within a single game. Does not feel like an improvement.
