Re: LuaRules in Map files (revisited) and 77b4

Thanks for all the info guys. :-) I'll convert my stuff over to LuaGaia although this will mean loosing some functionality due to the restrictions that LuaGaia has to work under compared to LuaRules. I had suspected that using LuaRules in a map was a bit of a hack, but it was worth trying at least. ...

Re: LuaRules in Map files (revisited) and 77b4

Thanks for your assistance Argh. I did a clean install of 77b4 and found that the LuaRules in my map didn't work for the latest versions of BA or CA, but did work for an older mod that didn't have any LuaRules scripts in it, so it must be some conflict happening. This gives me somewhere to start at ...

Re: LuaRules in Map files (revisited) and 77b4

No errors in Infolog and Spring just runs fine without crashing. My Initialize() call-in's both run for synced and unsynced, but my gadget:DrawWorld() call-in from my unsynced code isn't, and neither is my gadget:GameFrame(framenumber) from my synced code. Even when I trim the code down to just the ...

LuaRules in Map files (revisited) and 77b4

Hi Guys, I've written a couple of LuaRules gadgets that I had intended to put into some maps I was working on - a teleporter, unit duplicator, and an "end game" scenario for a map where you have to hold 5 points to win. I'd just gotten them working under 76b1, with some graphical effects, only for t...

Re: [WIP] Rough draft of Spring Lua Guide

Hi SpliFF,

I quite like this guide of yours :-) - have you been updating it? Can you post it up if you have?

Also, would you like some extra details on some of the call-backs and call-ins?

Cheers.

Re: Map Gadget Scripts - Are game play effects possible?

Thanks for the replies. I've got a gadget script working that is creating units for the player working for my map under single player (directly launching the spring exe file) so now I'll just test it from the lobby. The map has five objects that once your side "owns" them for a set amount of time, I...

Map Gadget Scripts - Are game play effects possible?

Hi Guys, Can I create lua gadget scripts that control / modify game play that are attached to the map (ie: within the .sd7 file)? Doing things like creating units for player teams (as opposed to the Gaia team) or moving players units around? I'd like to add some "game play effects" to a map I'm work...

Re: AppLauncher

Depending on how it is being launched internally, you can often just pass it a normal URL and Windows will use the default browser.

Map updated: Riverbed v2 - Now with 50% less porc!

I've updated my Riverbed map: http://spring.clan-sy.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=15995 Map download: http://jobjol.nl/1452 I've changed it such that; the left and right banks are thinner, kbots can now climb the edges of all hills and both banks, the map is about 25% lower, and there is an additio...

kbot map recommendations?

Hi Guys, Can anyone recommend a couple of maps that favour kbots (for *A mods) over vehicles? I keep ending up playing games hosted by others that favour vehicles and whilst I like playing vehicles, it would be nice to play kbots for a bit and with a new isp I should be able to host games myself for...

Re: New Map - Riverbed

Thanks for the feedback guys. :-) I'll try halving the height of the terrain to see if that makes it more accessible to kbots and reduce some of the porcyness as well as put in more ramps. I'm also going to reduce the width of the raised left and right banks and cut down their metal amounts for the ...

New Map - Riverbed

New map, Riverbed - http://jobjol.nl/1432 Such a nice inventive name :) The map is played left v right and I think it's 16x16. I actually made it about 7 months ago but never got around to uploading it anywhere.. The water you can see if quite shallow so most vehicles can just cross it so it's not a...

Re: Extract a texture map.

I think that there used to be a python script (or maybe it was a couple of scripts?) that does this external to Spring, maybe one of the file hosting sites has it?

Re: New map: Levels

I've just uploaded a new wiki "howto" for using povray. I created a new thread for this as it is not so related to this map :-)

I believe that the tutorial that HeavyLancer is reffering to is RogerN's one here.

New Wiki article: Using Povray to generate a map's texture

I just put together a quick howto in the wiki covering the use of Povray to generate a map's texture:

Create map texture with povray

This came out of this thread.

Re: New map: Levels

I've uploaded a "fixed" version (fixed for loading, but not yet for brightness): http://files.filefront.com/Levels+v2sd7/;9690251;/fileinfo.html The two of the three texture "tiles" I used came from this program Genetica Viewer , which is pretty good and I'd recommend everyone to take a look at it. ...

Re: New map: Levels

Thanks for the advice Decimator. So I'd need to recompile it in mapconv with a new name as well as giving the sd7 file a new name? I'm afraid that I didn't do this, but I'll do that tonight and remove the current download until I do. Thankfully no-one has downloaded it since I put up the updated ver...
