Heroes, there abilitys create what they are used for. You are entering DOTA country there. There are buffs for close-combat units or ranged-units, which specify the location the hero will be. Protip: if it works do not rewrite. You will find a whole batch of bugs - unnecessary complexity in your first 10000 locs.

Complete systems used by all units are the worst. Carefully design those interfaces.

The clean solution would be to have something aking to a lod system- too which cegs could fall back gracefully.

Just imagine if we had a java spring port, that could hibernate- we could have so many devs. Who would write such verbose code.
Which would be so ummaintainable outside of a enterprise environment.
And so future proof.
