Re: Balanced Annihilation V6.81
There should be a more elegant solution to this. You can always assume the community is stupid and try to be a jerk in the space the mod allows them. (beautifully explained by Yahtzee in his Saints Row 2 review) The bear hover transport isn't allowed to pick up enemy units anymore after people figur...

Re: Running Windows 7, Spring downloader crashes while starting.
By disabeling the Firewall (you can reable it again with no problems) the lobby and downloader works. only when you actually download something it gives the <System.AccessViolationException: protected memory> error. It does however download the file for you. you just have to live with dismissing the...

Re: Running Windows 7, Spring downloader crashes while starting.
update: Ah I got it to work. I disabled the widnows Firewall (and run as administer) and no more errors. Maybe you can tell your firewall to let Springdownloader free acces without disabeling it completly. It seems you can just disable the firewall, run spring and then reable the firewall. It won't ...

Re: Running Windows 7, Spring downloader crashes while starting.
Hey I'm trying Spring under windows 7 beta as well. Spring it self runs like a charm (I'm exctually getting better performance then under windows XP 64) with AI and all. The lobby works fine. (only I have this weird bug that my password is somehow always wrong which keeps me from logging in, I had t...

Re: [WIP] - My TA re-modeling and re-design
Going into collage for graphical artist certainly has it's pro and cons. First off, What AF says is certainly true. A Good portfolio showing you're awesome is more important than a collage degree, but those professionals will teach you stuff you wouldn't gain otherwise. It's not the practical stuff ...

Re: Spring + decoupled renderer
I'd gladly do that if you know a way to put in my Intel 945-based laptop. Is it strange that you actually need some hardware to run a 3d rts? Because there are a good portion of engine devs and content producers/modders who have such equipment, so if you want to keep them with the project, it would...

Re: Spring + decoupled renderer
I don't get it. how can people suggest that commercial games may have a GF6 requirement and non-commercial games MUST be lower. If lack of opengl 2.0 support is the problem. you can get an opengl 2.0 supporting card for 40$. The latest version of spring is released this year. Name one game released ...

Re: Core Garpike +1
Flea is 685 tris btw. not the most efficient considering the size. The ribs are modeled and 12 tris each. The eyes are 48 tris each. the first verion didn't had them but imo the result is worth the expence. If a higher poly count is killing your spring, stop running it on a Pentium 3 600mhz with a G...

Re: Graphics tablets
Wacom intuos tablets are the best, preferably one as close in size and shape to your current monitor as possible. The cintiq line is amazing... but realistically... it's not an advantage to have your hand blocking your view, and you get used to drawing and seeing input on a different surface pretty...

Re: Spring Advertising Flash Game
I'm currently busy on a simple version of BA. well, so far you only have two arrows (will be replaced by commanders) and you can move them arround. A* pathfinding is almost done (well it is done, he only has a bug in following the path), but it's a bit slow. I at least want to make a "lab"...
