Re: My new favorite TA strategy: Mass dropships.
Oh my sides. Playing in a 8v8 game, i try to get away with building nothing but dropships for my team and kidnap as many enemy units as possible. There is no greater feeling than sacking 4 ships or so to grab a sumo or bulldog. and then, on occasion, bringing it to a part of your base you don't min...

Overhead unit control script?
Hey guys, maybe a year ago I was speccing a game and watch as, in the beginning of the match, someone was doing a Jeffy rush to harass. As they were driving, they were making perfect turns like using WASD keyboard, but with far more accuracy and precision than you would get from FPS view. They were ...

Re: Spring engine port to Nintendo DS
Great job! You've come up with an idea! Now it's time to make it a reality! :-) Here is the source to the Spring engine . If you don't understand it right away, don't worry! You can learn all about computer programming and C++ (the language Spring is written in) with this tutorial ! Easy, right? On...

Re: Holographic tables , and FPS style like Tribes, Battlefield
they already have that AMERICAS ARMY 5000 propaganda game which is actually pretty damn good actually they recently upgraded to the 6000 series. the sacramento (or was it fresno..) greyhound station actually has an t arcade game version that's like gallery shooting game with a infrared gun like Duc...

Re: Spring engine port to Nintendo DS
also the D-Pad on the DS would be ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for direct unit control--- it could be made the same fashion as Soldiers: Heroes of WW2 or Robotron 2084, from a topdown perspective, using the dpad to move and maybe the stylus to rotate the turret and fire it. is there any way currently to direc...

Re: Spring engine port to Nintendo DS
haha thats awesome. DS version could just maybe have the units rendered as squares then if pixels are a problem(wait what does that 2000-something limit entail anyway?); its not like you can really see their details from far away anyway. like, tanks are a block with a rectangular turret, kbots are j...

Re: Holographic tables , and FPS style like Tribes, Battlefield
also porting taspring to the nintendo ds would be really cool, top as minimap, bottom as screen, opens the game up to millions of people with wifi access everywhere + microphones and cameras for trashtalkin'... also improved screen drawings of private parts!

Spring engine port to Nintendo DS
Another idea-- a graphically simple port of TA Spring to the nintendo DS. Opens up access to millions of people, the thing has built in WiFi and the touch pad can be used to control units, with the minimap on top

Re: Holographic tables , and FPS style like Tribes, Battlefield
oh yeah i always just think of BA as like the game, not as something inside the engine. i really like this game i must say-- i remember back when starcraft came out it was sweet but i was like, theres something missing, needs physics instead of hitscan and he original TA was out but i diddnt hear ab...

Re: Holographic tables , and FPS style like Tribes, Battlefield
on an unrelated note, in team games ive been perfecting my new strategy of building nothing but atlases and kidnapping as many units as possible. grabbing a bulldog or fatboy or commander with 1-3 planes that costs like nothing is probably the most satisfying thing ever, hell even grabbing t1 is wor...

Holographic tables , and FPS style like Tribes, Battlefield
Today I was watching a video of the new Nintendo 3DS, its got some 3D effects where a camera is looking at your table and it projects a dude onto it. This reminded me of an idea I had for a holographic tabletop version of TASpring-- add in a more awesome FPS mode and meld it with a commander mode li...
